There are still 17"x7.5 oem steelies showing up as take offs on ebay for less than $100 shipped, each. They are ~30 lbs and piece so about 4-6 lbs heavier than comparable oem alloys.

Bilstein 5100s set to 1.75 up front. 1.5" spacers in the rear. 3rd row delete and second row can be removed in minutes.

Arb skids, currently shoping for sliders. 🍔

I love and use the Dr KDSS bypass switch almost daily. Especially great in places with lots of pot holes.

I have a 470, rather than a 460, but can confirm that the GX platform will pull a TrailManor just awesome. The camper compliments a GX very well. I get 11-12 mpg pulling it 70-75, 12-13 mpg going 60-65 mph, and up to 14 mpg on 55-mph 2-lane backroads. We've logged multiple 700-mile days with this setup. I would recommend upgrading the trans cooler and either using a WDH or retaining the stock airbags. Later this summer we are planning to pull ours all the way to Glacier.

It also handles a ~5,000# loaded enclosed trailer quite well. We moved our family of 4 in ours (across town, but still).

So there is a factory trans cooler, correct? It is just too small for towing?

Do you need to only pull in a certain gear, i.e. no overdrive?

I am hearing about issues with a solenoid in the transmission, but I am not sure what year these affect. I will study more...

Here is our LX + TrailManor 2720:

I think you need to add an external cooler on most 460s. Many - including me - run the Hayden 678. I also suggest full fluid exchanges every 30-40k.

IMO, the GX460 trans issues are due to the lack of a factory external cooler and folks never changing the trans fluid. The 470 trans is very similar to the one in the 460 and rarely has issues. But, it has a factory external cooler (albeit undersized for towing).

No WDH? I'm considering omitting mine for airbags and seeing how it tows.

Just FYI the barn door will hit your trailer jack. I'm going to relocate my jack mounting point and get a lower profile drill-powered jack so the door will open all the way.

Yep, happened to my '15, had it resealed at around 120k miles. At this point, I would consider it a service item for all GX460s, it's going to happen eventually.
My radiator lasted to 105k and waterpump failed at 85k
85k doesn't sound very OEM.

Does the 4.6L run a belt or a chain?

You can add CarPlay to an earlier GX using a kit. You really just need a 10mm socket, a slim trim puller and some patience.
That sounds good.
Do you have a link?
I have hear that there is a Tesla head unit upgrade? No idea how that would work - those tablets are yuge!

To my knowledge the coolant valley gasket material was swapped out sometime mid-2015 so some 2015's have the older gasket material. Unless its beat on and whatnot 2016's and newer shouldn't have the issue.
Okay. The wife is currently eyeing a '15. I wonder where it falls in the build year.

If my 470 was totaled tomorrow I'd start the search for a 22-23 while figuring out how to pay for it. Best tech of their longest-running SUV in the American market. And probably a decade before you might have to worry about the valley plate leak.
Interesting...
The '22-'23 are still fetching some real coin.

What are you looking at for sliders?

Are the '22 & '23 that much better than '14 through '21?
They didn't update the infotainment until 2022 so a 2021 is like a 2014 or 15 inside.

Still in analysis paralysis. Not sure yet but leaning towards a west coast style build.

Still in Loveland/Johnstown.

I am running airbags in the rear. I put a touch over 25 psi in both bags and she behaves pretty well.
The GX looks a little shorter than the LX (wheelbase), so that seems like a step closer to the tail wagging the dog.
Amirite that these have factory airbags in the rear? Are there any problems w/ leaks?

As @Hiluxforever said, it's just a matter of the infotainment being light years better in the updated interior. That plus a few year newer vehicle makes for a more appealing "forever" buy.

The tailgate glass swings open when the TrailManor is docked, yes?
I can fully open the LX tailgate when I am pulling. That is handy.
