Sorry to beat a dead horse but the engine bay pictures are from 2 different trucks. See pic 38, it is not the same as the others. Different apron, air cleaner, radiator, and other items

Yes Blake, he has two trucks....an 82 and an 83 which are close to identical. I assume JP probably accidentally mixed up some pics while posting.

As I mentioned in this ad my client also has a 1982 FJ40 that he wishes to sell it appears I accidentally included one of those pictures in the album for the ‘83 LX. My apologies there, nothing nefarious going a simple mistake.
Oops, sorry to be answering for you. I assumed you'd be asleep by now lol

Hello all, the model plate will tell all. The complectation model number will tell the original engine, transmission, hard top/soft top type, and options. It is pretty simple. This can be cross referenced to amayaMa or another Toyota site to establish whether it aligns to a fj40 lx. I hope that helps you!

Hard to sleep in the middle of the LX inquisition 😝

I'm not a newb. Scorch has posted 7 posts. I have have over 15 fj40s over the past 22 years.

I never said he knowingly misrepresented. However, Clemson Cruiser has already admitted misposting wrong pictures. I just want the production model number.

Lastly, a VIN of a Saudi Arabian truck would not provide any information related to the production model of the truck. Thanks in advance

I am just confused now which is it the VIN will or it won’t tell you what you are after. I am happy to provide whatever it is you wish to see.

@ClemsonCruiser what is the title status? Thanks
@Yellow Jacket

I’ll have to put you in touch with the owner for the specific details but he lives in Georgia and it’s my understanding they do not issue titles for vehicles older than 1990. So I believe it comes with a bill of sale only. Again I can give you the contact info for the owner and he can better explain how it works in Georgia. I know he has sold two other 40/45s to customers of mine and they were able to get titles without issue.

Shoot me a PM if you would like owners contact.

Thanks!
JP

I'm not afraid to show my ignorance. Are the plates over the rear sill and on the bib standard for a middle east cruiser?

Hey Oiuser. No they are not standard or factory, more like Saudi PO decorations 😀

A newb is not how many cruisers you have owned? Its how much content and knowledge you have contributed over the years? You have not contributed too much over the few years youve been here… btw, between Jp and myself, pretty sure we have had 15 cruisers in the last 22 months🤣
Here is my "newb" contribution. If you pull the model number off of the plate under the hood (I attached your unreadable plate in the picture below), you will be able to align whether this truck originally had 5sd, hard top, and other added features. According to amayama.com, European and General 1983 LX only came in a few different options.

As you know, It is very easy to switch out hard tops, soft tops, seats, or transmissions over the years to change the look of a truck.

This was why I asked for the picture, to verify the Lx package. However, I am sure that you all knew this already.

Good luck with sale.

Mate, we hear you. Yes, that info is easy.....however I think you are missing the point of all this bantering. You could have easily sent JP a personal message asking him to clarify when he got a chance. He would gladly send you everything and anything you needed. Instead you posted comments for everyone to see with a certain tone and accusations. It all could be easily avoided. Everyone is here to help.... not cut everyone down.

Great! Now that the facts regarding how to check authenticity are agreed upon. We can get an update soon.

Thank you for the feedback. Have a good day 👍🏻

FWIW: plate indicates among others: the later darker beige exterior, built February 1983, brown fabric upholstery/"zebra", no rollbar, 4-speed transmission, gasser, LHD hardtop, etc.--as was shown in initial photos. Additionally, has typical MiddleEast "Saudi" spec attributes.

So where is the misrepresentation ?

JP: your reputation for honesty precedes you. Don't waste the effort trying to assuage this whiner who doesn't impress any of us. You have responded like a true gentleman, where many of us might not have acted so politely or for so long.

Your client is lucky to have you !
