gotta love CA frames...That is a great truck! I feel lucky to have been in San Diego (military service) when I found my 40 all those years ago. Mine was in supremely clean shape. Must've been a SoCal truck always. The only large project I'd love to do in the future would be to find a close vintage June 1975 2F to throw back into 'er! (Mine was always a V8- power/cheap parts is sweet, but I'd love to put the ole' stump puller back in its home!)

Any more updates?

ive been trying to locate oem factory soft top bows to no avail. :( ive been contemplating building a set.....but with jd2 dies running $265 and steel$plus oem b pillar $ parts......im starting to think i should be putting that time into a clutch-job vs making bows. Im hoping to luck out at a swap meet or two this summer.......or i will be back to the drawing board or Reelsteal Bows. If anyone has a lead on oem bows- even beat up ones in need of some welding/etc - im still searching and hoping to keep this FSt as Oem as possible.

I swapped out the plugs and new cap and its running well. I need to pull the plugs just to doublecheck that the oil migration/fouling of plugs was indeed loose plugs vs oil coming from elsewhere.

I envy yet another of your 'Yotas.

It went to the right guy, so much win in how you're in love with the survivor patina rather than overly-lipstick the pig back to as-new or better condition.

It's almost a chuckle to call it patina, that is just such a nicely aged rig.

Congrats, honestly.

Update: I finally got around to yanking out the Nissan Pulsar Bucket seats....and while they are cloth.....that’s about the only good they had going for em. :)

And then yanked the tank cover and tank : this was a Calif.orig. cruiser and was rocking the original tank evap sticker! SO Now I got a tad frightened at what I was going to find underneath.... the tank itself was in pretty great shape. I got out the girlfriends gardening hand spade to start scouping > and I got about 10good scoops of dirt/ .22bullets/ a variety of empty rifle rounds/ a few walnuts from 1980s....and loads of change.

With it all cleaned out- I decided to upgrade the nissan seats a bit and found these babies from @Tank5 who thankfully persisted with Greyhound shipping from Arizona. :)

i fabbed up some bracketry and got them angled and dialed with lots of hemming and hawing but they came with about the same patina as the rest of the cruiser........so they don’t look too out of place :

then I ordered up a $60 waxed canvas tarp from Tarpsnow.com. I let it sit in the sun a few days to air it out and flattena bit —-then broke out the girlfriends biggest needle and some UVthread......and got to hand canvas welding *man-sewing*. ;)

The tarp came with the brass rivets which I can use as tie downs if flapping gets too bad.

Next stop: drum brake overhaul

question : What’s the closest to Oem silver paint that people would recommend??? (Seat mounts , seatframes etc)

I sprayed the cluster a while back and I think its close. What I compared it to was another 77 cluster. Might need a touch of green? Here is a picture of my cluster. The color and shine looks a little different in person.
