So I have been at this for about a month now. Engine was running fine before and after replacement of valve cover gasket. About the third time starting up to move the truck the motor started running awful, white smoke and fuel leaking from the exhaust manifold to the point it puddles up on the ground. Checked the wire harness near the EGR tube and it does not look burned/melted. I also replaced all spark plugs and plug wires when I did the valve cover gasket. Just got through removing the injectors and cleaning them and reinstalled with all new OEM gaskets seals etc. fired up the motor today and still have the same issue of the feul leaking out the exhaust manifold, white smoke and rough idle. The leak is suspected to be from the 5th or 6th cylinder in the back. Anyone have any thoughts?

Could the ECU be malfunctioning to cause a constant 12v to the injector to keep it open? I'm extremely puzzled by this. I also drained the oil today and did not notice the presence of any sludge that would come from a blown HG.

Did the old oil smell real strongly of gas?

Did you check your harness near the glove box and ecm? Could be grounding out and causing the injector to stay open all the time

Not much of technical help but have you traced the fuel line to make sure nothing is broken and that all fittings are tight?

Wait, how the hell would fuel get to the exhaust manifold side? I mean that would be a ton of fuel dumping.

Unless you have a 3FE and the exhaust manifold is on the driver's side...

An injector wire. IIRC the ecm controls the ground side of the circuit.

Went and pulled an ECU from a 97 lx450 just in case. same thing is happening... Checked the pinouts on the wiring diagram and I'm getting 2 ohms on the #6 Y-L wire but get 29-30ohms on every other injector wire. Sounds like a grounded out wire to me... Damn...

Do bubble test in your coolant reservoir sounds like head gasket if it is white smoke

A bad HG wouldn't cause fuel to pour out of my exhaust manifold as far as I know... But I'm not super experienced in bad Head gaskets. At the very least it sounds like my #6 injector wire is grounded out. Anyone agree on that?

I pulled the #6 plug and it was drenched in fuel after starting the truck up. The fuel is seeping out through the exhaust manifold gasket and down the block and puddling on the ground. It is indeed fuel that is leaking.

My bet is on the wire harness beside the egr tube. When you replaced the valve cover gasket you disturbed it.

Was the #6 spark plug super clean or normal looking with the addition of being wet with gas?
