Oh my, I think you are going to get some requests for those. Very nice

HELL YES. I like the cool factor of having the Aussie sliding windows, but Kevin's are awesome. I'd definitely take those over the aussie windows.

How's the seal on those, Kevin? Any rattles or road noise get through 'em?

Those windows are perfect for me, as i am a carpenter. everything within reach from the outside... gosh...
You can probably close them from inside just by turning the latch-arm thingy?
(they look a bit long, wont they bend if someone grabs the window from outside? theft-weak?)

And how did you do the el-windows? from a 61? and does the manual crank work as well?

If you decide to head south once you come west, drop me a note-we have room for you to crash in the thick of downtown san francisco- even secure parking. aces on the new additions, wish i'd had time in the last 6 mos. to work on my truck....

this thread never ceases being inspirational:cheers:

Just wanted to give props to Kevin's door seals. Over the weekend, I took my truck swimming too deep for the 2nd time since I've had it. The first time it took on much water through the door seals, this time with Kevin's seal, it hardly took on any....... until the rusted out quarter panels dropped deeper while being pulled out. Time to build a snorkel. :hillbilly:

I thought you might be in Oregon, saw your rig coming down off of Mt. Hood about a week and half ago. But I was all "Nah, that dudes from New York"

Cheers.

Super excited to be hitting the road again for a bit of a trip, explore OR and WA a bit this time, catch up with some friends and cruise around, nothing better.
I put a vacation response on my email and about to post up a notice on the home page. Another day to wrap up packing tomorrow and then start the long drive west. Maybe we'll run into some of you out in the hills!
Kevin R.

Well, you drove past me on a hill.

Ok, Back at it!
....or trying to be at least.

Trip went great, wonderful time, lots of exploring, another 10k fun miles on the old truck.
Trying to catch back up with emails, PMs, and all the various "works" that I have to report to. Some of you have heard from me via emails already, hope to get to the rest soon.

To answer the questions:
First up, Windows:
They worked incredibly well, still a bunch I would change, but they are pretty much nothing short of revolutionary for how we use the truck (which is obviously not everyones cup-o-tea).
Anyway, they can be latched and unlatched from inside or outside, you can just turn the cams by hand inside as long as the key part of the latch is unlocked, to lock from the inside I put a rubber draw latch from the glass to the frame.
As far as the long cams bending, they didn't under normal use, and the glass is fit too tight in the cavity to get your fingers behind, a pry bar would be needed, and if you are already using a prybar......
My typical response to this and other security questions applies: A brick is still faster. :p
No road noise, no wind, no water, not even at the car-wash.

Norway, The electric window on the passenger door is just from a 62, the motor bolts right in place and then I did my own wiring. The crank handle does not work, but the door panel looked funny without it on there, plus it's fun, when someone new is in the truck they crank the crank around and it just spins, I tell them they broke it. :D

No.3, Thanks! We stuck to the north though. And thanks to all for the invites and hospitality.

Doc, hope you didn't get my nice panels muddy.

Prat, (et. All) Working on the shirts.

Clint, Good to meet you and the gang! Too funny when you asked if I knew that guy from NY that makes all that whacky stuff....

And Cruisified, too funny about the drive-by, I think I remember that, there was one 6X that drove by on a hill and I just caught it out of the corner of my eye, didn't wave, pretty sure it was on Hood. So here is a belated wave, mud style. :flipoff2:

And Johnny, while well known for my circuitous navigation methods, KY is not really on the way to OR, this time at least. :grinpimp:

Enough with the words, some pictures and then back to work!

Kevin - as always - Ingenious. Those are some sweet windows! I like the idea of reaching through to grab something in the back. Any concerns regarding security? Like someone mentioned above - the latch looks somewhat long - sturdy if you pull on it?

Love you rig - wish i'd known you were going to be in the NW!

rob

I dig the windows...cool pics as well :)

Uh, yeah, hold off on any requests, I'm still too scared to add up what these things cost me. ;p
More than my Cruiser for sure.

Whew, cuz you know I want those too, but there's this thing called a mortgage....

Any thoughts about screening the window, for those in the buggier climates? (And so I can use pet screen, to keep the steeple-chasing jumping dobermans inside?)

Simply amazing, as always.

Now couldja start thinking on how to ensure that our rigs always pass emissions & start getting mpgs in the 20's?? (nope, not a diesel swap).

Damn fine work!!
