Windows: next thing I purchase for my truck.

Same here. Long as they're not something like ten grand for the pair, I'm jumpin on that one.

Kevin! Those windows! WANT WANT WANT!

I still have to buy my quarter panels though. I'm slacking!

If there was one vendor whose full line of products I would buy if I had the dough, it is Kevin.

I NEED a set of those windows. When can I order them and how much are they going to set me back?

Kevin:

Is your dog related to mine? It seems like every photo you have of him, he’s sleeping!! (By the way, welcome back from your trip and I hope the FJ60 antenna adaptors will be ready for purchase soon!!)

Any concerns regarding security? Like someone mentioned above - the latch looks somewhat long - sturdy if you pull on it?

Love you rig - wish i'd known you were going to be in the NW!

No kidding! It was nice to meet up with those we did, I originally had grand schemes to try and meet up with more, but as the trip got closer and closer I was more and more swamped, and then it was time to go so I left it all to chance! There are a bunch of you guys in the NW that I've exchanged emails with, and quite a few products as well, would have been nice to meet up. I made a bit of a push and got to the last day of the Mcgrew Trailride to meet those that were there and I just kept my eyes open for Land Cruisers for the rest. ;p
And like I said above, a brick is still a faster way to get in. :grinpimp:
You really can't get a grip on the window the way it sits and the cams are quite sturdy. I'm not happy with the latches though, they are not right for that application and I would like to run just one latch on each window, back to the hardware search. Also don't like the hinges so it needs a full re-vamp.
I think I was silly to be so stuck on having the window be see-through (ie. glass), for the re-thinking phase I am going to ignore that major stumbling block in hopes that it will open up some new lines of thought.

GLTHFJ60 Windows: next thing I purchase for my truck.
You are going to have to wait a few years for that. I'm a bit busy with all the other stuff still. :p

Any thoughts about screening the window, for those in the buggier climates? (And so I can use pet screen, to keep the steeple-chasing jumping dobermans inside?)
Now couldja start thinking on how to ensure that our rigs always pass emissions & start getting mpgs in the 20's?? (nope, not a diesel swap).

Damn fine work!!
Yeah, I just use bug spray, that wont work well for the doberdogs though...

The nature of the utility hatch negates the possibility of a screen in many ways, or at least complicates it, the gas shock and the hardware need to pass through to the inner part, and having the hardware accessible from the inside is an issue as well. We keep a bug net in the truck that we hang from the roof if needed, but in all the traveling we have done that has only been used twice, so I just work with the windows the way they are, the rest don't have screens either.
And emissions??!!?! These are post apocalyptic survival vehicles, when the rest of the infrastructure collapses we will still have our Cruisers and won't need to worry about emissions anymore, the fuel milage thing is going to be an issue though........

I haven't done the overall math for the trip yet, but I think my average will be about 22mpg overall, not lower than 20 for sure. Things were running very well.

Thanks chaser, hope those seals are holding up to the red dust. And nope, new glass, once glass is tempered there is no way to cut-drill-shape it without the whole thing exploding. It would be great to re-use the old glass since that is a major part of the expense. I am trying to think of a way that I could attach what I needed to the inside of the original glass and use an electronic access solution for the latch, but there are a LOT of issues with that line of thought.

Hey Hector, you're better at keeping up on Mud than on your emails! :p I'll bet money that I sent you a link to the new antenna page, there is no buy-it button yet, but we can get one sorted out anytime you like. (well, under normal circumstances, I'm crazy behind on everything right now due to our month long slack-off. ;p)

Tofudebeest If there was one vendors whose full line of products I would buy if I had the dough, it is Kevin.
That's because I only sell, like 4 things!

And thanks for the support everyone!

I am definitely willing to become the next wagongear slave worker. I could help with just about anything and it could help you catch up on the backwork. :) I work for free!!!

Those windows.... great idea! price??

On your tailgate storage... is the plastic strong enough to stand on the tailgate to get to the roof rack?

You can't be doing that anymore Johnny, you're all college edumacated an stuff now. :p You've got good skills though, pick up the mechanical stuff fast, and even after only 1/2 hour welding lesson you can already crank out some nice TIG welds, not sure you should have ended up in computers there buddy! ;p

No more of this! The windows are just an idea still! NFS. I'll keep working on them though, they are too expensive the way they sit, I would be lucky if I could make a set for $1,500 plus a bunch of labor. Mine have at least twice that in them. (I don't want to add it up to get the real number, would rather just enjoy them)
And the tailgates are crazy strong, stronger than what is there.

 thanks buddy, but I'm not that good. I have been considering changing majors to some sort of engineering field but I'm too far along now to switch. I would have wasted too many courses.

I'll be back up in a few weeks, so I'll have to come over and show you what I've done! I may ask if I can use your welder to do some body work on my truck ( still haven't done any of it ) so my pants don't get wet with saltwater while driving down the road. I'll bring more tungsten this time too:)

You talking the labor of assembling them? Just a thought, but why not sell them as a kit? Just the pre-drilled and prepped parts, with instructions on assembly and installation. Could save you some coin that you could pass on to the buyers.

Seriously, I'll do anything short of sexual favors for those windows...

I call B.S. ;p

Kev, the windows are friggen sweat. I love using my slider windows, especially since I did a swing out tire. I can see how those would be even better. Opening them from the outside would be nice. I have to open the rear door to access my sliding window if they are locked.

Sweet work. How much for a set? :grinpimp:

I'll sell you mine for $3k. :grinpimp:

And Woody is making a supper-awesome vendor forum, I'll make a thread in there for any more of this window talk.
