Will you be making a fuel cell to go underneath? Will you need to change any engine parameters for gas instead of pane or will the mods you did work for either? I thought you did some engine work to make it more pane friendly but it's been so long :p that I just can't remember.

Not exactly sure yet how a fuel cell will end up yet.... It may end up on top of that rack I built for the propane tanks for now. I'm more comfortable storing a fuel cell in an enclosed space because you can at least route the "vent" hose outside the vehicle. The propane tanks can heat up in the sun and "burp" propane fumes out the vents which are a lot more difficult to contain.

As far as the motor.... I did raise the compression ratio by decking the block and shaving the heads but I didnt go so crazy that it isnt possible to run pump gas. It's right about 9.5:1.

Pane is mo betta

What mixer did you have? was a larger one not available?

I had the 425 which is the biggest one Got Propane offered. The next step would have been to go to a dual mixer adapter and having to add another vaporizer too. Honestly at that point the simplicity of propane gets lost with all the extra tubes, cables and adapters.

I can't believe you gave up on propane, it is so awesome to work with.

It's all good though, you have a hard top and little ones to worry about, I have a soft top (rarely) and a wife that is aware and ok with the system.

I do agree on the limitations of the mixer and vaporizer. Propane was never intended to run in high HP applications with those items.

I DO NOT miss the smell of gasoline though, the propane is so clean and runs so good once you have some heat in the coolant.

You cant believe it? I might be the most indecisive person on earth. I changed my mind on stuff daily. My main problem is that I have too much time to THINK about what I want to do and TOO MUCH time in between work periods so I rethink everything I've done previously. It makes me ill thinking about all the money I've pissed away changing from one thing to another.... so I dont. :D

I think I might have a good full day or two next weekend to get stuff done. Its getting warm around here and I want to go hit the dunes!

got the axle back under the cruiser:

got a fuel cell and some trailer fenders from six states cheap. I'll do some cutting and fitting to make them work:

baby steps.

I too like the trailer fender idea for the wells. That powerjection unit is futuristic in a 1950's kind of way. I like it. Let's shoot for a work party on May 7th or the 21st. Maybe Clint will be on the road by then and we can show up and smoke you out of the house :D.

got my surge tank and "lift pump". The idea of that is that the lift pump fills the smaller tank constantly and recirculates the extra fuel back to the bigger fuel cell. That way the small tank will never starve the efi system of fuel in off camber situations. This is a pretty popular method used in rally cars and drifters.

Where you gonna mount those? I remember Mace talking about noisy fuel pumps so maybe under the rear would be better than in the rear.
