3 kids... 15 year old (almost 16) step daugther, a 3 almost 4 year old girl, and now a baby boy. :)

Life is busy. :steer:

14 yr old boy 4 yr old boy and a 2 yr old girl ...I hear ya.... they slow our project down for sure but they're worth it

filled my coilovers tonight. :) I had an extra acetylene tank so I talked the guy at airgas to let me trade it in for a nitrogen tank and then I robbed my co2/argon regulator off my co2 tank that I was using for my onboard air and used it for my "nitrogen charging kit"... I scored the "tire inflater" in the bargain bin at air gas too. It was whole $9.97 and the dude said I could bring it back if breaks. I cant believe powertank charges like $500 bucks for these. I've swear I've got less than $50 bucks into the set up.

Anyway, I charged the front coilovers. I was surprised how little nitrogen acutally seemed to go into them.

nice.

200 psi... medium valving. Seems to be about right from pushing it side to side but I wont really know for sure until I get it on the road and trail.

interesting .. F.O.A recomends max 180 PSI .. ( 120 - 180 ) and yes .. we can make a bunch of numbers and calcs .. but you will know if that works in the trail ..

dope, so when is the trail run?

clint

X2 .. :D

OOO... guess I should have checked. I pressurized them to 200 thinking that was the max. Guess I'll let out a little bit.

Got a bit done on the front axle. I needed to get the arb in, upgraded axle/joints, and replace the inner seals as the passenger side was leaking.

First I got the axle pulled and torn down:

Then I talked Justin (jnau99) into helping me (or me trying to help him is more appropriate) install the arb as I had no idea where to start. We popped out the old carrier and then proceeded to try to pull the seals. My HF puller wasnt up to the task so Justin did some quick repair work on the POS... I cant believe he took the time try to save it but it works a bit better now.

We didnt have the case spreader or the nice bearing puller that day so we did the best we could. We were close but ended up with too tight of backlash... it was weird though because we werent able to really feel or measure any backlash at the ring gear but you could reach down and feel quite a bit in pinion yoke. I'm not sure what that means though. Hopefully I can talk Justin into coming back and giving another run at it.

While the stock axles were out I compared them to the 35 splines that I picked up... BIG difference:

the stock dana 30 splines kinda look like upgraded toyota axles... puny. :flipoff2:

BIG BIG thanks for Justin for coming over and giving me a lesson on setting up an ARB. He even did it on Super Bowl Sunday. :smokin:

maybe just the splines at the yoke are not that tight with the pinion, so you are feeling the play in between yoke and pinion splines ..

little more:

made a mount for the reservoir:

I mounted it here... wasnt my first choice but space is at a premium now and it needed to be directly over the pump.

Mounted the cooler:

Arb is in and plumbed:

I have to say that the case spreader and Yukon bearing puller (borrowed) made things pretty nice to do it.
