What was the process for ordering the bumpers? Directly from Rhino? Total cost with shipping? Shipping time? So many questions:)

@mcgaskins Job well done, that bumper looks amazing and the color match is a nice detail. Your truck continues to inspire my build!

$6,600 for the bumper and winch?! So ~$5k for the bumper? That's a bit hectic.

I don’t know how that number was quoted. But whatever. Greg lived in Australia and through some outfitters he knows, got the bumpers without any middleman and shipped from factory rather than warehouse. Paid significantly, significantly less. Think more like ARB price.

Edit: Matt would like to clarify. He paid $6k. :flipoff2:

Not sure why people are paying so much unless they're bloating the price. I ordered direct from rhino with a 12.5k winch and all the options for 2900 shipped...even before the aud conversion it's not 6k.

No, you paid 6 ;)

Lots of places you can find pricing info on the bumper online. The configuration I have shows about $3,300 AUD, but that's before tax/fees/duties, shipping, stripping the powdercoat, professional paint, etc. It ends up being quite a bit more expensive than a standard ARB or TJM front bumper, but IMO it's totally worth it. I can't count how many people came up to me to ask what kind of bumper it is, and every comment I received was very positive. A lot of people physically knocked on the bumper to make sure it's metal, because it genuinely looks OEM.

Update after use:

I absolutely LOVE this bumper. I've had lots of aftermarket bumpers over the years, and I almost always choose ARB. Ultimately that's what my choice came down to - ARB or Rhino. ARB offers a lot of value, but I personally think the 16+ front end looks so good a full bull bar with hoops covers too much of the front end. It also protrudes pretty far and doesn't have the best ground clearance, and I noticed the ARB I had on my 14 caused a lot of aerodynamic interference on the front end. The Summit bar might be a little better, but after looking at it in person I don't believe it's materially different in that regard than the 08-15 bar I had before. People might "complain" the Rhino or other slim bumpers don't offer enough grill protection for animal strikes or whatever, but this is a heck of a lot better than the stock bumper. I think people need to determine their true needs and usage for the truck, and as you can see my focus is on clearance, safety (this one is crash tested and airbag compliant like the ARB), strength and appearance.

After using the truck extensively in Moab last week, I'm pleased to say I never touched the front bumper on anything, and that includes some aggressive lines on Hells Revenge, Poison Spider, and a very steep descent on Baby Lion's Back I've never tried before. Any full bull bar would have absolutely struck in a few places on each of these trails without question. I can also report the bumper didn't move from it's installed placement at all (marked all the bolt locations with a paint pen), didn't make any weird noises, and doesn't hit or rub anywhere on the body or headlights. Probably best of all IMO is that it does not cause aerodynamic interference and did not impact my gas mileage like I'm used to with full bull bars. On the way out there and back I got just a little bit over 15 mpg, and we were cruising at or above the speed limit on I-70 the whole way including a decent stretch in Utah over 80 mph.

Lastly, I think the BP51s ride and perform even better with this bumper and winch installed. It lowered the front end about a half inch which put the rake in the perfect position, and it is incredibly well balanced front to rear now with the weight up front. My wife immediately noticed a positive impact as well, and she gives it 2 thumbs up. Overall I am every bit as happy with it as I'd hoped I would be and would definitely do it again.

Remember bumper Greg purchased is for a 16+ Land Crusier. It’s been modified a bunch for fit, mainly a fab’d fill plate near headlights for fit. And the entire thing is welded together.

You likely won’t catch him on the internet.
Yeah, and for good reason: he's too busy actually building and wheeling to spend time talking about building and wheeling (-:

Matt, did you go down the far side of Baby Lion's Back? IOW, farthest from the road?

I went up on Wednesday, and the far side was a lake! So I chickened out and turned around. LOL!

Bumper looks great, I actually prefer the look of it on the LC vs LX, I dunno, something funny about the LX lights maybe. Can't put my finger on it but your LC looks awesome.

+100 about determining the individual's needs and best solution for them. I think my needs are closely aligned with yours (actually probably less demanding).

Setting aside the hoops/no hoops decision, I have a question for you. And don't take this the wrong way. IIRC in past threads on bumpers, some folks will take issue with the construction, bracing, steel thickness, etc. of bumper A vs. B, etc. Considering that all of the other "serious" bumpers (e.g., ARB, TJM, MetalTech, TrailTailor) are one piece across the front, what are your thoughts about how the Rhino bumper compares? Wouldn't a multi-section, bolted bumper be weaker? (Glad to hear that it isn't noisy/creaking/groaning at the joints).

FWIW, I'm trying to keep my 2008 looking close to stock, just "plussed up." SWMBO already doesn't appreciate the coolness of a lifted truck on 34's. As cool as they are, I don't think an ARB or TJM would fly. As an East-Coaster with kids in middle & high school activities, I don't get off-road nearly as much as some of you big-time wheelers. Have been thinking about a hidden winch mount, but I like the looks of this Rhino. Just have to get someone to rep them in the US.

edit: link to Rhino's bumper for 2008-2016 200's.

I'm not Matt nor do I have a Rhino bumper but I've run several "one piece" bumpers and several modular. Again it all comes down to your needs. Is a ARB or TJM going to be stronger than the modular rhino bumper? Sure, especially on an offset hit on one of the wings. But it will still be a heck of a lot stronger than the stock Tupperware. On the trail the wing strength likely doesn't matter because your approach angle is MUCH better than an ARB or TJM and where you might be dragging the ARB over the rocks and banging it around you may never make contact with the wings on the Rhino in years of wheeling. I ran several bumpers on my FJ and my favorite was the All Pro Offroad modular. It was so tucked up and the wings gave some amazing clearance it didn't matter that they were not reinforced structurally beyond what the bends in the metal gave them because they never touched anything other than bushes and trees branches in the 5 years of hard use I gave them. The center of the bumper housed the winch cradle and bolted straight onto the frame. That did make HARD contact with the rock many times but it was as stout as could be and didn't mind one bit.

I actually hit a deer with this bumper as well and sustained no damage beyond a bunch of hide and fur stuck in my fairlead and lightbar. If the deer would have been bigger or my truck a little shorter it would have been a different story but it took ~200lbs of deer at 60MPH without flinching so its not like these types of bumpers are flimsy.

One massive downside to this bumper, it looks so good you feel compelled to clean it

Huge thanks to Matt and Greg for letting me tag along on their Cruise Moab journey!

Ok fine I'm guilty! 😂 It was a pleasure to have you along - even if you thought we were going to roll when we weren't 😆

That bumper looks so awesome. I love your rig!

Thanks for the kind words! The LX bumper is actually designed for a 16+ LC, and Greg used his fab skills to add some plating, take some bumper away, weld it all together (instead of bolting), and then align it on his own. It definitely looks a little different than how it sits on mine, but especially in person his LX is totally stunning. Considering he didn't own a 200 or even know much about them 6 months ago, it's incredible to see what he's done with that truck. All on his own I might add - no shops touched his truck - it was all him figuring it out and spending some long nights in the garage.
