I'm getting 12.7mpg consistantly with my LC 252k miles on the odometer. Would love to improve mpg but think my 17" RW/KO2s are killing it. When I bought it with 100k miles I was getting 17.2mpg with 18" tires. Its lifted 0.75" in front now. Ordered PCV valve today wishing my mpg improve. Recently noticing my idle rpm spikes up from time to time. I have never changed this to my knowledge.

Regearing has helped my mpg. A lot depends on speed though... I was able to get 20mpg on 34s when doing 50-55 on the highway with 4.88s.

I drive 85mph up and down I294/290/88/55. I have 33s. I also have an aluminum push bar in front. When I first got my car I was getting 19mpg in stock form. Since lift/upgrades I have seen as high as 14mpg and low is 12mpg.

Mine was nasty and stuck. 08’ 110,000

I changed mind around 100k. It wasn't stuck, but the old one felt heavier and less smooth when I shook it. I suspect there was a bunch of gunk building up inside

The old one fell out of my hands and landed somewhere on the skid plate.

Finally took care of mine today. It took me longer to find the right placement to get to the pcv than doing the work. Having a bumper upfront complicates simple tasks...

So I replaced mine yesterday based on this thread, 2013 LX ~82k miles. Wow, pulling my camper today, trip I’ve made countless times. Lately I’ve been getting 8.2-8.7 mpg, can’t remember the last time I got >9 mpg. Got 10.1 mpg today! Also seems to run smoother but could be placebo effect.

I’ll add only thing that was a PITA was on my LX the PCV was surrounded by sound deadening foam. Once I got the foam out it was <10min start to finish. 22mm deep socket was essential. I used the same one I have for my lug nuts.

Yeah, I ended up ripping out the foam. But now I’m nervous about critters getting under the manifold and wreaking havoc, so have the new block and eventual plans to pull the manifold so I can install it.

If someone finds a good way to keep the foam intact while doing the work please document and post.

I ripped it out as well. To keep it intact would have had to at least take off the manifold. From what I could tell seems it was only for sound deadening around the PCV, looked like there was a huge gap to the left of it.

In and out in ten minutes at 65K miles.
I only had a small tear in the foam massaging it aside but i could get it out and in with it pushed slightly out of the way.

I still have 2-3 puffs of smoke out the exhaust on cold start. Is that normal?

I think I have 270K on the original PCV valve...UGH...I will be removing that SOB this weekend if not sooner.

Thank you for including pictures and making this an easy fix

Don’t bug anything Toyota from Amazon. Too many fakes.
I agree for a lot of stuff but if you look you can find the vendor info. The one I ordered is from a Lexus dealer.

if any of you are still wondering how to replace PCV valve without taking the intake off, here is a video showing you the replacement:

Did mine today, old one had ~97k miles on it and still had the rattle- so not sure I'll see a MPG increase, but some road trips coming up and looking to maximize as I'm paying over $5/gal for Premium.

That foam sure isn't easy to rip out, but... once you get it out- you have a VERY clear view of your valley plate area- so you should now be able to see any coolant leaks in that area with the foam mostly removed.

Took less than 10 min. And I can see how easy it would be to over tighten- my old one was barely tightened when I removed it.

mine was still rattling at 140k miles but I did see oil leaking past the PCV, my intake had oil and even the spark plug wells had oil.
I think we should change it more frequently like 60-80k for engine and exhaust system longevity.
