That was my thinking. @TNpig , if you're getting close then let's combine efforts. Or not, up to you. If I don't hear back I'll proceed anyways, but glad to put our heads together to get replacements in our grubby little hands.
That is the plastic piece I was talking about. I am pretty close to having the 3D model finished. I don't mind working together with you on this. Do you have anything particular in mind?

@TNpig ... cool! I believe the plan of attack would be:

Rapid prototype your model from a decent material, I'm thinking the Duraform Nylon (Laser Sintered) parts from Shapeways.
Install and Test
Explore manufacturing options

Have you modeled it to be injection molded or machined?

Quick update: I got Ron's loaner parts in the mail yesterday evening. Starting with the handle backing plate, I'll be scanning and importing the model into SolidWorks to confirm dimensions. That should happen this evening or tomorrow. In the meantime here is the geometry I've created, again a rough start and I need to verify critical features.

HANDLE BACK.webp

I just want to throw out that I have a full die casting operation if that is the route you would like to take with this. Aluminum, Zinc and Magnesium options. Super excited some of you guys are pursuing this!

Dig it. I'm just now beginning to explore options to see what is most cost effective. If I send you the file as-is can you work up a rough quote? Let's continue this in a PM.

There is some cool stuff going on in here!

As I said, I have files on the tailgate handle, and I believe @reevesci is still working on reproducing these, but getting some other pieces worked up will be really cool...

Haven't seen @reevesci chime in yet on this topic. Pablo I'm curious to see those files if @reevesci doesn't respond. Maybe I'll ping you in a week or two, sound good?

How about the aluminum thresholds. What have people been doing.
I lucked out and found a full set on craigs list two years ago.

All,

Due to some health issues I have not pursued the tailgate handles any further. I have a shop in Spokane that I'm working with to reproduce these from an aluminum composite and then will be offered in two options, triple chrome dipped or hard anodized. They make many things for GM. I hope to get this done one day, but it is not on the immediate to do list. I do have the tailgate handle gasket die made and at the gasket maker. Just need to have them run some.

Hope you are on the mend!

Yes, sorry to hear of the health issues.

If you feel it's a matter of when, not if, those handles will be ready then I'll humbly step aside. But if you stall out let me know. Thanks for working to provide us with all the aftermarket parts you already do.

Feel free to proceed. It would be months before I would be able to continue on with it and also to make the handles affordable, I will have to run around 300-500 pieces.

Roger that, and I suspect you're right regarding the investment required. I figure I'll take a look and see if I come to the same conclusion. Thanks!
