Dismanteling the frame. It is a slow proces, my shoulder does not like the use of hammer tools.😏
There is a lot of rust in between the parts, in some sections the inner and Outer frame pops when the rivit head is cut off.

The rear bumper and supports have seen better days.

If only we were closer in this world. My boys and I would pitch in. That’s some hard pounding. Hope your shoulder can get rest. Not sure if air chisel is any better for it. By pile of dirt looks like this cruiser would have seen better days had mud and grime been cleaned out. Hope the pile is not rust .

Most of it is dry MUD and some rust but not that much.
I used an air chisel for most of the rivits and it does not do well for my shoulder.😖
Just taking small steps and giving it time to heal in between. The therapist did some dry needling yesterday, not fun after using an air chisel.
Would have been nice to have you and your family in the neighbourhood, not just for the help but for the projects and the learning curve of your boys.

Thanks to Mud my boys are with you. Glad you share what you do. They are learning

It’s been a while so time for a small update.
I have been working on the body mounting points for the build frame.
As my shoulder is still not good enough to do much heavy work and cutting threads is tough on the shoulder I decided to cut them on the lathe.
I didn’t take any pictures but they came out ok for the purpose but.........
The compound slide of the lathe had to much movement for the slow cutting and I didn’t want to risk crashing into the chuck.
Thats when. I decided to make a new base plate for the compound slide.
Started with some 15mm plate.

Fitting, went from 2 M8 bolts to 4 M10.

Made an opening to view the angle and then put old and new next to each other. You can see the extra shoulder and bigger footprint.

Mounted together, big improvement.

The main reason for not updating was that my wife had surgery and I was taking care of her after.
She is getting better now which wil increase my cruiser time.

I did buy a new welder and tested it on a frame for the smoker project.

It needs some gussets on the side and support frame for the fire chaimber but it is getting there.

Always amazing and a pleasure to see the projects you're working on. I hope you wife is doing well.

Happy wife. Happy Life. Best on her and your recovery. Glad to see you keep at this. My boys get much confidence seeing how you work. Cool that it happens from beyond the seas. They are budding mechanical engineers. I have shared the importance of machining and metal behavior. They see this through your work.

Started with cleaning the shop, after 3 years it starts to become a mess.😏
Things that are not worked on must go upstairs and others are to be prepped and upstairs too.

Got some more rivits out of the frame, no pictures, but the shoulder would not allow me to much time on that.

Got the cover of the rear diff off and I expected worse.

The plan is to take both axels apart, clean and rust free.
Once the frame is disassembled it will be sent off to the blaster.
The rear of the shop will then be cleaned and repainted, the floor.
This wil become the machine area. Next the front of the shop will get a new floor paint before it becoms the vehicle area..

Got a few more rivits out but still carefull with my shoulder.
Got a little side project, monding my weld cart.
Going to expand With some extra height with drawers.

Excellent work. Always remember to respect your body’s limits.

In this case I was regering to the body of the cart.😉
I’m waiting for my body to get better before continuing with the heavy labor.

I hope your body does. I’ve been extra broken the last couple months, and I’m praying it’ll improve, it can be so discouraging at times.
