I finally got around putting the finish work in. Got the boot done. I'll call the rear axle thing finished. If you all are looking to use that 60 or 62 rear brake cable this bracket is something you should start looking for. I got it off a 60 and instead of bolting it on I just put some welds on it. On the 60 it is riveted on.

got a little project started and then got interrupted by the rain. Hopefully some snow:clap:

Ok, you got to tell us more about that red boot. Did you make it and that the boot hold down. Was the cable long enough, to mount where you wanted and finally, where about is that welded bracket located.

Whew! Thanks, Ron

I made the, for lack of a better word, doughnut out of some 16 gauge and then wrapped it in black leather and had a local guy sew up two boots- one red and one black. The doughnut holds the boot down in place. I think some time I will go and weld on some skinny rod along the outside edge to get the rigidity factor. Later tho.

The cable was perfect for where I placed it, because I guess it is basically where the 60 lever is placed. I don't know if it would be long enough to mount between the door and dseat. That would have been cooler in my opinion. I am okay with this tho.

The bracket is welded to a cross member that is just infront of the rear axle. It should line up with that spring that is on the outside of the cabel.

bummer...i plan on keeping the stock bench, so mine won't be able to go there. may have to look into having a custom cable made:frown: for now, annie (our new 1962) is taking all our time tho, so i guess pighead and i have plenty of time to figure something out. your setup looks sweet tho:cheers:

Hey Srappdaddy

I checked with that guy and I don't think that it's a good deal. He is this high end guy and is kind of a d##k. No, wait, he is a d##k. Anyway he told me that it would cost about $80 to $90 to get another one made. I got this black one still and it cost $130 to have the two made. If you are still in the want when you get to that time and place give me a hola and if you want Ill send you the black one if you want to split the cost.

I am thinking that there is probably someone near you that could do as well for less. I was kinda disheartend when I got the bill.

Love your work and please keep posting pics!!!

my grandfather used to sew....he was a machinist by trade, but did all his own upholstery, and tailoring. it is another of the dying arts.....I bought an old singer a couple months ago, you wanna borrow it?

What the heck, I'll split it with you. PM me your address and how much shipping is. I'll send you a check. They look like they're very well made. Don't rush on my behalf.

Thanks again, Ron

My first job in high school was sewing boat sails. I repaired or made from scratch a lot of high end sails and that skill has helped me all my life.

I have to ask. Why is there so much fuss about the e-break? I don't know cuz my 55 was nearly done when I bought it and I have the lever you pull out under the dash. I don't use it cuz I forget and I realize I've been driving for miles with it on. No idiot light, you know.

Megadoomer,

In my case and others, we have switched to an FJ60 rear axle, which has the e-brake system on the rear drums. On the 55, its mounted on the transfer case. I'm useing all 60 stuff to keep it easier.

Ok that makes sense. I have a Dana 44 with rear discs.
