Dan you have hit the nail on the head...it's goin to all revolve around your vehicle with blue tooth and the iPhone will get a little larger and scale down the iPad and eventually the two will merge...another reason apple has such a market is something like 95% of viruses are made to attack a window os and very few viruses are out there for the apple os. I think a lot of the future of storage are going to be in"clouds" my brother got the new kindle and amazon has a cloud storage system. But I'm of the era where I want an external hard drive to backup. The wife got a toshiba hd with a sector built in that even if the drive does crash they can still retrieve what was on the drive. And the iPhone 5 will be out soon also and they have a new platform coming out with the MacBooks

Problem with something smaller is you cannot see it. That is why I love the ipad so much. Plus it's easy. That's one think Apple has done very well.

The Ipad is only worth it if you get the 3G version IMO. Makes a great offroad map platform. Great screen, easy to zoom and pan and easy to run multiple apps at once. I am looking into downloading MotionX GPS and see what kind of maps they have for the Southeast. If it works well i'll get a RAM mount for the truck.

That's sorta RIM's model with the Playbook. The Playbook only connects via wifi or tethered through a Blackberry.

Just downloaded MotionX, and pulled up a map of my bike trails near the house. Just found out something really cool about the 3G Ipad. I don't have to have a wifi connection or a data plan to use the offroad navagation app because the gps works all the time for free just like a Garmin device. So for 2.99 I have a full topo map for offroad and hiking, and another 2.99 I have a full driving turn by turn GPS for traveling all with a 10" screen and sweet Ipod controls built-in to the app. Love it!

Now to find a deal on a RAM mount.

But no gunleather. For that check into Simply Rugged.

Target has a killer clearance deal on a Coleman Sundome 2 man tent. It is usually $65, but they have it on clearance for $13. It seems to be decent, with a tall roof and lightweight. Only 5#'s. I will waterproof all the seams before use like I always do just in case, but it looks pretty good.
