Thanks @Markuson I appreciate the advice. I will go with 2721's and I will skip the diff drop, and I'll get the4 UCA's as well. In general, do you think I'm going the right route with this OME setup? Curious your opinion on Tough Dog, if you know anybody else who likes that better. It appears to be in a somewhat similar price point. How do you like your BP-51's? I am mainly just trying to figure out if there is any point in me stretching the bank account to afford BP-51, Icon, Fox, or King for the type of offroading I'm going to be doing the next several years, usually with little kids and a trailer in tow. My current thought is that the OME setup will give me a good amount of lift, be good enough to get me anywhere I'm trying to go, will be way better than stock, and I won't have to worry about any reliability issues. This also would leave me some funds left over to get sliders now, and skids plates soon. If I spend everything $$$ on higher end suspension it'd be a while before id be able to get any armor. I'm thinking sliders are going to help me more than remote reservoirs are. 1 more question for you on the UCA's what do you think about me getting Total Chaos vs SPC? It's really just an appearance thing if I'm honest, but i really like the look of the Total Chaos UPA's.

The BPs are well over $1000 more than the OME or Tough Dog. I wouldn't say twice the comfort, but significantly more comfortable, adjustable, and rebuildable. If you can swing it, save up. If not, anything is better than stock.

if you are staying below 2.5" of lift there is no real "need" for upper control arms.
the total caos are nice if you are looking for maximizing your wheel travel. I doubt they would give enough added benefit to justify the $$$.
especially when that money could go to sliders; which are arguably the most value added mod you can do.

Tony P ran the tough dog suspension through Moab last year and it perfomed extremely well. OME or TD should be good for what you are looking to accomplish.
save some cash by skipping the diff drop and upper arms and order a set of sliders. you'll be able to tackle just about anywhere you will be wanting to go.

I'd agree the diff drop under 2.5 inches isn't needed....

You know, we missed an opportunity in Baja to drive each others' setups. Just riding in your rig for the two mins it took to get over and rescue @Markuson  I could tell how much "softer" your TD suspension was than mine. Really think folks should try and drive different setups, could come down to preference, I know personally I was trying to get away from that soft ride. Stock suspension was ok until you got any sort of load in there, and then it was ducks and dives galore.

Anybody within reasonable drive of central NC running the Tough Dog? Would love to feel it for myself.

Maybe TonyP would sell the tough dogs he just replaced...? :)

What did @TonyP replace his tough dogs with? I'd be interested in used if they still had a lot of life on them.

So much great info on this forum here is where it has me currently at:

Suspension: Probably still going with OME but per multiple comments going 2721 springs in the rear. Might price out Tough Dog for comparison. Might price out BP-51 as well, but again that's going to be sooo much more $$$, that as much as i WANT it, I really think i'd be better off using my money and getting sliders now like @TexAZ said. That is such an important upgrade that could keep me out of a lot of costly trail damage. In my dreams i may be out hitting Hells Revenge and high speed desert racing in Baja with the LCDC, my reality is more family camping up on 4 peaks and similar.

Diff drop: skip this save myself some $ based off @Markuson comments about the 200 CV angles

Upper Control Arms: This is where I'm still the most confused or torn on. SPS vs Total Chaos sounds like either would be fine, Total Chaos costing a couple hundred more and requiring the greasing and retightening bolts to a certain ft-lb.

My main confusion is the mixed opinions on whether i should get UCA's at all at this point. About half are saying get them, half saying this lift isn't big enough to warrant getting them. The OME setup with OME2702 Front OME Coils - and - OME2721 Rear OME Coils based off the old interweb should give me 2" front lift, 0 rear lift. Is there any use or advantage to getting UCA's with this amount of lift? or is the only reason to get UCA's at this point because i would have them already if i end up going to 35's and bigger future lift? It's an extra $600-$800 i could put towards armor so not sure if its going to benefit me. @TexAZ , @Markuson , @SQRRRL , @Mogwai , @TonyP Thoughts? o_O

Got a killer deal on BP51s I couldn't pass up. Otherwise the Tough Dogs were perfectly fine. I'm keeping them though.

As far as UCAs go, what wheel and tire combo are you looking to use? The only reason I would get UCAs with a basic OME/TD lift is for tire clearance. Don't get 35s.

I'm currently on 17" Rock warrior's with BFG KO2's in 285/70/17 . I am not offhand planning on going bigger anytime in near future as i really like this wheel/tire combo. So with this tire clearance do i need or would i notice any benefit from UCA's? So far i haven't found any rubbing over the past 6 months Ive had these wheels and tires on stock suspension. 35's maybe some day way off but that sounds a lot more involved and costly than i need or can afford now.

Nope, no benefit to UCAs in your case.

Tell me more about this "killer deal on BP51s". Any more killer deals you know of? not counting UCA's from what i see classic OME is about $1000 and BP-51 is about $3000. I think i could justify and swing the double price, but the triple price is just outta my range.

It was a one time thing. I don't know of any more deals.

Tough Dog will be a little more than OME but they are compression adjustable.

I think BP51s are around 2800.

Agree. If you never intend to go higher or bigger, you could easily skip UCAs.

classic OME is about $1000.

My Tough Dog kit was less than that and the front coil overs come fully assembled with new top hats so no messing with spring compressors. I have the following and I'm 100% satisfied with the ride.

Front - 41mm coilovers with heavy springs (I run a TJM bumper and winch)
Rear - 41mm rear shocks with light springs

where did you buy from?

I am in CLT. My '08 is getting ready to get a suspension upgrade. Trying to grapple with the OME options. Nitro or BP51s is the question. I am a bit perplexed by the suggestion to use the 2721 rear springs in lieu of the 2722s (as I would like/want the .75" lift and the 2722s are for Medium load). Lots of options out there but OME has been around for some time and reputation is good. Not sure if there are other 200 series owners in the CLT area but I would also like to check it out live before purchasing. May just have to jump in!
