Oh I'm familiar with Reggie and the gang, I perennially harass them to sell me the yellow XJ.

They're also sitting on 4 unbuilt AEV TJ Brute kits, but they won't sell those except for an in-house build.

Glad to hear you had a great experience; they're more capable than many give them credit for given some of the "maller" builds they do for customers.
 
OME medium suspension vs Icon coilover lift

I have a 2014 Landcruiser. Lifting is new to me so I’m starting with zero experience. 98% of my driving will be interstate and roads around town. I’m looking to lift the front so it’s level with the back. Then add larger tire. I don’t want a hard/firm ride that is uncomfortable as it’s the family car.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

When I started this thread I was in the same place. I was 90% sure I was getting OME. I ended up, due to much advice going totally other direction with Tough Dog outta Australia. Only had a couple weeks but very very happy with it. I did 45mm adjustable rear so I can make it as firm or soft as I want in 20 seconds. OME not adjustable and even icon you have to get to the much higher end trim line to get adjustable. Highly recommend, only slightly more $ than OME but way less than Icon. In general you just get more for your money. Hit up @reevesci he is the US importer and gave me tons of advice. Here is a pic post lift

I’m lifting my 2014 LC 200 to level out the front end with the back. How much lift do I need to level it? 1, 1.5 or 2 inches?
 
if all you want to do is level the front with the back, install a set of OEM Toyota 10mm spacers on top of the stock coilovers.

the part number is available on several threads.

I purchased the same TD kit from Jason, but have yet to install it. Really hope that the amount of lift is as close to 40 mm (1.6 in) in front and 20 mm (0.8 in) rear as possible because that will leave me with 1 - 1.5 in clearance to top of garage entrance. This is really important to me because I like to work on the LC inside the garage late at night.

So far, really impressed with the feel and size of the rear TD shocks, really solid and fat. Front coil-overs are solid. It's a really good looking kit.

You should be fine. I got slightly more initially (maybe 0.5" more) but the suspension will settle slightly after a few hundred miles.

+3 clicks front and rear, so I'm at setting #4. For me it's very compliant around town but also more controlled than stock, particularly on the highway. I have sliders, a roof rack, a front winch bumper, and about 50# of recovery gear in the trunk though plus about 20k miles on the setup, so you may want to start at setting #3 and adjust from there.

When you do the install remember that the taller rear spring goes on the passenger side, regardless of how they mark it.

Not sure if you bought adjustable UCAs but I needed UCAs to get my alignment back to spec, otherwise caster was too low, but others have had success. I like to run caster at the top end of the spec anyway (or slightly above) as it helps the truck track straight when flying down the highway.

FWIW I have noticed some little squeaks when going over bumps at low speed with the radio off recently. Not sure if it's bushings in the shocks making noise or (more likely) in the aftermarket adjustable SPC UCAs. I bought some silicone spray lube though honestly I'm not sure how to apply it to the UCA bushings without loosening the bolts.

I have the none adjustable TD with 40mm up front and 20mm lift in rear. It will sit at the height you want. The ride is very nice with or without a load. Give it some time to settle in. It will sit higher at first. No worries.
 
I just ordered a TD kit thru Jason - I went with light duty coils front and rear, non adjustable 41 mm front shocks and adjustable 45 mm rear shocks. Jason mentioned the 45 mm adjustable front shocks can be pretty firm without extra weight up front and I’m keeping the front end stock.

I’ve got the 1” Toyota spacers right now and am planning to install them with the new TD coilovers to net about 3” of total lift up front. I’ve got about 1/4” of rake right now, so if the rear springs really only provide an inch of lift I should probably look into some rear trim packers? Hoping to get closer to 2” out of the rear springs since I don’t have any extra weight in the truck. I am adding sliders but that should distribute weight pretty evenly front to back.

Sounds like you guys have more weight in and on your trucks @SQRRRL and @linuxgod - how much lift do you think I’ll get with light coils on an otherwise stock LC?

Based on my experience I believe you'll get what TD states for an unloaded vehicle, and a bit less as you load up the rig. Ages ago when I did my TD install I took before and after measurements, so if you search enough you'll eventually find them. I got about an inch in the rear and 2 in the front when my only mods were a roof rack and sliders
