Thanks @wct49 fkr the drag link

So I got all the new link ends put in. I wish I had not put in the cotter pins because some poor sap at 49Cruisers is going to be taking it all off to align it. I think it's toed out pretty bad.

I need flex brake hoses and a steering stabilizer and the front is complete.....well, it's gonna need a seal/gasket job.

I moved back to the rear. If you remember, Beno and I pulled the rear third because the pinion seal was leaking. That means I needed to get the front axle apart to get the other 3rd.

Just like the rear this damn thing was really caked on there. Heat and lots of hammering and I got it out.

This is one well lubed 3rd lol

That's my stopping point. Headed out of town a few days. I'll get parts coming.

Cleaned this beauty up too in the parts washer.

^^^ and this was how the CLC Swingers Club was started.
A rather colorful friend of mine once said (and I don't rightly recall the context of that conversation) that,
"it ain't swinging if you know the folks, that's jus' friends messin' around"

Badass.

You bought Jap wiper blades but don't want to stop the rust?

Stop the rust? You mean paint it?
I personally think it looks perfect as is. I love the look but it's not for everyone. I get that.

I promise you there is nothing I can do short of what Andrew is doing to stop the rust. This 40 is way too far gone for that. If that was the goal I wouldn't have bought this basketcase.

I think getting it out if the weather and keeping mud off it will let it last 100 years alone.

The blades were a why not but the arms were mandatory (not pictured)

What about spraying the undersides of fenders with Rust bullet, then doing a matte clear coat to preserve the patina?

I'm with you on keeping the outside as is too. Looks REALLY cool.

I just don't see it getting worse if it's garaged.

I'll watch it but the rear sill would have to be replaced if I clear coated.

If it can't be seen from the outside I'll preserve and block the rust.

There used to be a product called rust converter. Don't know if you can still get it or not. Goes on as a clear liquid by brush or spray after you wire brush off all the loose stuff you can. Turns the rusty areas kinda dark gray/black and is supposed to slow or stop the progress of the rust. If you can find it I would suggest trying it. It won't hurt the original paint or the cool patina

Hell yeah, now we're talking.
