I doubt you can pair the keyless entry without the key already being paired; seeing as you have to insert the key into the ignition (and likely trip the anti-theft) to program the remote, you probably need to program the key first.

Well this thread had me out getting a previously cut and registered key programmed. The dealer said they couldn't get the weak actuator to function well enough to add the wireless function after the ECU replacement I went through. (Some time ago, See up thread).
So I went out and have this is a try. What do you know, but after 5 tries, I got the truck into program mode, designated by the locks locking/unlocking. I was so giddy, that I forgot the next procedure on the key presses and ran out of time!
Wasn't able to get there again even after locking/unlocking while also manually moving the lock. I think I finally killed the actuator trying. Oh well, it was on the list to do anyway!
I'm sure it will be dirt simple after I fix the actuator.

Yes, you have to have the key recognized by the ECU, which is why you have to stick it in the ignition and take it out as the first step.
Actually you can program a remote before the immobilizer on a given key. I've done it.
I am having key programing issues. This is where I am. I have successfully programmed 2 keys that do not have the remnote feature. I have successfully programmed the remote functions of 2 more keys. I cannot get the keys that have the remote to start the engine.
One thing I have found is you really need to pace yourself. I have a stop watch app in my phone and I am letting space the steps for me and it keeps me from going from one time interval to the next to fast.
I have tried both methods of removing all the old keys except one and neither of them has worked.
Any advice?

What year is your car and what is the number molded into the module inside the key head of the remote key you are trying to program?
See my earlier posts regarding applicability. 60010 is for 98-02. 60140 is for 03+.
Yes, if you can find guts. I don't think Toy sells the guts alone though.
Obviously programming of the interlock transponder and lock remote transmitter would still be required for the new guts.
Programming the remote will only make the remote work for the doors.
To start the engine you still have to program the transponder for those remote keys i.e. do what you did for the dumb keys to make them start the engine.

Or the clicker for 30
And he can if needed reflash the computer if u don't have the master! Solved all my issues in one visit and It was fast, the only catch is u go to him but u get taken care of! For our used 100 with no clicker a christmas gift of his and her key clicker and fob made a new year easer!

Ive tried every method numerous times..nothing. Clearing the ECU memory Technique works but adding a new key doesn't. After I push the brake in for the 5th time...new key goes in...no light...push the gas pedal..get a light...waste 2 minutes..ECU wont recognize. this happens over and over again. HELP!! Please!! 2002 Land Cruiser.

This is what i purchased, had the two keys cut at the dealer and the ebay seller sent me the instructions, first attempt i got both programmed. the black portion with the logo is pretty cheap plastic, not like the oem key that i got from the previous owner, but hey, for less than 20 bucks and a few minutes of my time, i have two spare master keys

Dang this can get confusing. I need to figure out if I have a master or not…I have two keys, one valet and one with the remote buttons. I would like to get one more with remote buttons and one metal key that unlocks doors and works in the ignition. Thoughts? Oh, '06 LC

I have a new master key with a programmed transponder. The key will start the vehicle but the remote entry features do not work. The dealership was unable to get the vehicle into the required mode using the "lock/unlock method" since my driver side lock jumper no longer works....
What do I do to get the keyless features to work? I have the little electric motor required to fix the lock, but is there a way to get this programmed before I fix the lock?

yes, you can follow the method described here, manually moving the lock. see post 254. it's a big pain though… I had the same issue
