I love my brown...you sure you don't just want to install it?

I wanted the two tone to tie the door panels into the rest of the interior. Otherwise I think it looks odd and out of place for Lexus/Toyota to design. I suppose I could have whomever I hire to install the kit, also replace the lighter material on the panels with the darker brown to match... But that seems like too much brown... I have that in my GMC Sierra and it is a bit, well, blah. Not to mention more $$$.

This makes me regret not pulling the trigger on the NIB 40th covers that were in the classifieds back in December. I guess I missed all this Tomfoolery.

I've never received LED low beam, high beam, and reverse bulbs that I ordered from Shane. I've tried texting him, emailing him etc. My total was $285.43 and I ordered them 1/18/2014. I really just want a refund but I can't get ahold of Shane at all. I understand he may be ill, but I also deserve my money back. He has had plenty of time.

Akarilo/Mryanangle - did your leather come from MetricTLC? They're different. The second photo has the factory 'pleat' on the seat and back.
Interesting...?

Yes I got mine directly from Shane, I think I was the last person to get a set delivered. My truck is a 97 TLC.

So the question here is .. there is another vendor with similar product with the same quality and price available out there ..?

So you got yours in January of this year?
No I got mine in May/June last year. Right before the communication ceased for everyone.

Recently ordered Pig heater and foam kits from Shane's website and received shipping notification within a few days.

Now, listen.

I'm regurgitating information I've heard rumored, having never discussed with Shane in the few years I've bought goods from, so unsubstantiated, BUT it's been said that Shane has medical issues that come and go, sometimes when he does not expect a recurrence.

I don't know what it is and it's none of my business, but before we tie the guy to the stake and douse with petrol to burn, it may be worth giving consideration to this.

Shane's leather seats are top notch, but there's many more vintage products that he's the only game in town repro'ing and not because he's reaping great financial reward, but because he's passionate about Cruisers.

Is it bad business to leave the proverbial doors open when no one is tending shop?

Prolly.

Is it bad business to not respond to customer inquiries, at least those that have paid and waiting?

Yes, but if you aren't capable and don't have secondary resources in place, mebbe the situation lends itself to being patient and understanding.

Most these vendors aren't getting rich, nor are these full time businesses, so any little hiccup can hinder customer service and when we mount the posse, all it does it push others out of considering similar.

Not saying anyone doesn't have a right to complain, just be mindful of the full picture.

Not Metric, but another vendor.

David and I ordered and paid for goods last July that were supposed to ship in August.
$2k worth.

Just received last week.

We weren't hapoy about it, but knew that it's do nothing to resolve the issue by throwing out in a court of public opinion.

In that case, as in this one, agree communication is key, but if its not possible, think the situation may be better served with a little patience, because if he's ill, there's little chance these threads will be noticed by, and there's several ongoing like this, now.

My two cents.....which is half price today.

I ordered seat heaters earlier this winter and got them within a week...lucky break maybe, I don't know.

Shane called to confirm the order and sent it out.

Holy crap. A delancy post I didn't have to read 3 times to understand :flipoff2:

I have no dog in this fight but I agree with what you said...If it's true. But taking people's money and going AWOL is not cool.

I should prolly proof and edit, then....

Must've forgot some punctuation or spelled too many words correctly.

I don't either and, as stated, unsubstantiated rumors, BUT he's pretty wired into the vintage crowd and think there's validity.

I know the sinking feeling of paying out to an unresponsive vendor, all too well, and that's the part that does suck the worst.

I'd rather be told that capital is being raised to fulfill, a personal issue arose, or anything substantial than to be unresponded to.

I'm not a mushroom.

Don't like being fed chit and kept in the dark.

Just went through this over a 6 month period with $2k held ransom and it was frustrating, more so when emails spanning weeks went unanswered, which I see no excuse for, in that case.

Here, there's years of history where these periods occur, which does seem to substantiate what's been eluded to on other threads, as far as medical, BUT someone is managing some aspects, because I ordered and was emailed that it'd shipped, in the last two weeks.

Guess I'm more compassionate now, having spent the last half of '14 dealing with medical crap and also trying to run a few small businesses, and I know there were periods when customer service suffered, since there's no delegating duties to anyone else, for the most part, but all queries were responded to and at no time was there any circumstance that'd indicate anyone was getting screwed, granted, usually maintain a vested financial interest until the job is complete.

Think it's a similar deal and hoping someone in the know chimes in.

Not being a fanboy either.

Akrilo's post reminded me that I never received the lower flaps on the front seat backs after emailing for a couple of months, the last time a similar episode occurred.

By the way, this ain't 80 Tech.

There's a forum specifically for these threads, which might bring more insight into the problem, since others don't visit 80 Chat much.

I have bought from Shane in the past, and my transaction went smoothly. I have however been trying to contact him in regards to the availability of a LabRak roof rack (also his company). The LabRak website is been updated quite a bit lately but I have had zero response from him on my emails.

I placed an order with Metric TLc in early December of '14 and received my purchase within a week--one of my items was a leather console cover. I emailed in the midst of it asking for an update and Shane--or someone--responded 2.5 hours later. Overall, it was a positive, recent experience.

I will add, though, that a few years back I inquired about seat covers for my beloved manual leather seats, to which he replied, "those are fugly." I almost said "no YOU are," but remembered I'm not 12.

Point is, it's a small biz and may be a little rough around its edges. Let's give him a chance. I hope he's somehow aware we're discussing his and his business's well-being and chimes in.

Still waiting on my Cree reverse lights.........funny thing is I received an email with shipping info like two months back. Still no reverse lights!!
How hard is it to send an email, as I type this with a broken bone in my right hand. No excuse is good enough after a year. Just my opinion, but if I handled my business this way, I would no longer have a business.

I too don't have a dog in this fight -but I can say people who get their stuff immediately w/o a wait time involving weeks, even a few months- we been spoiled by the netz.

I have money floating in Europe over parts for BMW's 1st gen M3 & it'll be months before I see parts - BMW themselves abitrarily put parts in NLA/limbo & then make a run of some when enough people have it backordered - or I get my money back (that I leave with either the German or Spanish guys I work with) - and try for something else.
I waited 2 yrs for seatbelts, only to get a firm "never again" from BMW - and they weren't cheap.

Shane - get a proxy, clear your backlog, issue a public apology & a plan moving forward - I bet you do that & you won't lose a thing, you have loyal customers defending you here - do it before someone steals your market.

As to people who been spoiled by Amazon or whatever, if you send Shane money right now you have to expect the same others talk of here.

My money is Shane will pull his head out, just a matter of when.

And then I'll be in line for a pair of fronts, in grey, for a '97 LC.

Maybe we start a list of all the money he's missing will motivate him:
1) LINUS Fr pair grey LC. Cash in hand.

If we get to a point he sees he's got 15-30k in lost revenue I bet logic will motovate him. Health issues are expensive.
