Took advantage of Shane's discount back in December to order a new kit for my LX requesting two-tone. His darker tan, with the OE color insets where your butt and back would contact. He responded quickly; "I hate doing them. However, since we stock both colors I'm happy to make it happen." At the end of the day, it is just a matter of cutting pieces from a different color hide, no? Not like it was an off the wall request.

There was some back and forth via email regarding exactly what I was requesting, and I left it that we'd talk after Christmas and before he built and sent the kit out. Next thing I know, there is a box waiting at the PO and guess what, it was all the darker tan.

Nice looking product, but not what I requested, nor what I want to install.

Since mid-January I have sent multiple emails to him with ZERO response. Others here on Mud have also had issues, including missing pieces to their kits. One member finally got a reply after flooding Shane's email inbox. Apparently there are continuing health issues, which is somewhat understandable, but to have no one to offer at least some sort of problem resolution is not acceptable. I can't recall the last time I've been this frustrated with a semi-major purchase, though I went into it knowing his reputation for a quality product, gambling on his questionable service.

If anyone has further info or a way to contact him please post up.

I try as much as possible to support vendors here on Mud (though MetricTLC does not appear to be a vendor now regardless of what is in his signature) but this sort of treatment is not in following of the spirit of this site and very discouraging.

Sorry to hear about your dealings. I too haven't had any luck reaching anyone at Metric TLC. Luckily, I only have inquiries into them and NOT cash. However, if you cannot reach a resolution with Shane and wish not to install you kit - I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.
PM me if interested.

Since you already have the product...although not what you wanted, I think you best solution would be to put them up in classified...there are plenty of people that want those covers, who I assume will pay what you paid for them. Are they the brown leather? If so they are a hot commodity. You could then start over with another vendor and get the color scheme you want...just an option.

After the repeated bad service, it amazes me people continue to buy from this guy. It doesn't matter to me how good the product is, if you treat your customer base like this you should be rewarded with NO business. It's obvious he couldn't care less one way or the other.

Yes, it is the brown kit, with tan stitching.

I'm sure that there are a couple of shops here in the Phoenix area that could match the quality with the color combo I requested, but at what price point and to what level of time and effort I'd have to put in on my end is the question.

Sucks.

Mmmm, Brown. :)

Good luck with the customer service issues, cause these kits are to die for. Hope Shane gets it worked out.

Good luck, Shane has apparently turned into a total flake.:bang::bang::bang::bang:

I bought his seat covers over a year ago. They took FOREVER to arrive, but at least I got them, unlike some other members here.

There was another transaction I had with him that just degenerated into some ridiculous excuses, that is, when he actually replied to any of my emails.

The best one was that he got "bit by a snake", :hmm: he even included a photo of a thumb with a puncture wound for effect!

MetricTLC service...:moon:

Akarilo/Mryanangle - did your leather come from MetricTLC? They're different. The second photo has the factory 'pleat' on the seat and back.
Interesting...?

Mine are definitely TLC, although I got them second hand from a local Landcruiser philanthropist.

LX450 has the extra pleat in the seat backs

This thread sucks. I bought my leather from Shane in 2012, he was very prompt and helpful, we communicated by phone, facebook, and email. The kit arrived quickly and the leather is beautiful. He seemed like a standup guy at the time. I hope he can get past whatever is going on and get back to doing the Metric TLC stuff, and taking care of customers.

We all do but he has a pretty big hill to climb. It seems like if there was just someone who can act as a proxy for him and deal with stuff on the sites while he repairs/heals whatever is going on with him.

I rarely get involved with vendor/former vendor threads like this, being one myself. But I too I ordered a center armrest, took longer than it should have, especially since the picture shows a pile of them. I had to email asking them to ship or refund as I was in a time crunch. Order shipped 2 days later.

That said, people bagging on someone doesn't help anything except make yourself feel better. Issues arise, in this case it may be health related. Who knows. Transparency is key to any business. When there is a delay, communicate with people, in most cases they will understand. It appears that isn't being done in this situation, which is a shame. If I was looking for seats, I would not do business with them based on all of the threads, but adding another one with the same story doesn't really add anything.

To the OP, sorry about this, it sucks. However, you can look at it this way - you have a product and are not out of money (think of the OCD tops debacle). Your best bet is to sell them here if you are not pleased with them. You can get your money, maybe a little more even, since there is no wait time. For everyone else, just move on and Let It Go as Elsa says :0

Thanks Jason and I agree with most of what you posted. Esp. being transparent (though I hate that overused word these days) in business. And like you said, at least I have a complete kit in hand. Guess that is worth more than two on the hoof!

Actually two cows are worth more...

None the less, I'd hoped with the initial responses I'd received from him right after the order, and the quick ship, he'd turned a new customer service leaf. Not. And hope this will help others in the future to avoid MTLC. It is a shame.
