Unfortunately two issues …
1) the least desirable of the fiberglass options … could work but… needs a lot of reinforcement work

Think Chinese steel tub … they look great… but… they need a lot of work to work out

2) until the D is done … I’m functioning on a dwindling supply of nonexistent cash flow lol

I am siding towards the terratough aka 4wdfibreglass fiberglass tub … I had not seen anyone here snap up one yet… look great … if it’s in between the Gozzard and mallotte I think I’d be able to work with that

I know about the big D. I pretty just had to buy my FJ40 again to keep it. This was back in the 1980.
I wondered about how fiberglass would hold up off road. One of the main reason I switched to 75+ doors on my 68. Washboard roads are a killer for two piece doors. Besides the rear sill for rust would look for stress cracks in bottom half where the back of the vent window is. Wouldn't think fiberglass would do well on washboard roads.

Guess besides the fit issues on Chinese tubs it just doesn't seem they can make one correctly any year.

JohnnyC got to see my chinese tub first hand, I am doubtful I wouldve of done it if the way back machine worked. My cowl was in bad shape but finding a replacement one is easy enough, add an aqualu 3/4 tub I wouldve had about the same amount of money in it in the end.
The Terra Tough owner sent me some pics of his product and seemed really nice. My only concern was the door openings and how they are structured. As for washboard roads, I believe the fiberglass would hold up. Boats take a beating on choppy waves, UV and excessive alcohol while operating cause more damage then the waves.

Was getting a lil clunk when starting off after driving for a few hours … then the speedo stopped working hmmm

Hope the bearing isn’t too far gone … sounds good riding … but no speedo

Speedo cluster works fine… cable is new and fine … I got to pull the nylon gear out … it’s probably gone

Can’t do that here (in Maine) … if I remember gear oil makes a surprise waterfall when you pull it lol
