Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Had some time to work on the trucks today.

New battery is dead in the cruiser, so i certainly have some parasitic drain and my trickle charger is no longer working.

Changed the exhaust flange gasket on the trooper, then confirmed that the flange is bent in such a way that when bolted up it will not properly seal. To help seal i gooped the hell out of the flange with some permatex metal weld stuff to seal up the crack.
I've had water penetration of the headlight, so i vaseline'd the edges and used the compressor to blow out all the moisture in there.

I've had the replacement fuel pump bracket for the 4runner for a while now, so I figured its time to get the 4runner back on the road. The old hardware was nasty, but the channel locks worked well for twisting the old M5 bolts out. Pretty much every fuel line on the bracket was nasty and promptly crumbled when touched.

Replaced the rubber return lines while i was under there as well. Got distracted for a few minutes when a hot blonde in a short short skirt parked in front of my truck and took her time getting stuff out of the trunk. Sorry, no pics. She disappeared into thin air after walking through a short cut in the woods, and yes I sure as hell did get up to investigate. Maybe the gas fumes?

Old bracket v new bracket

After two trips to the auto parts store, because i had forgotten a sample of soft fuel line to replace the first time around, i purchased the new M5 bolts and soft line in order to slap in the new parts and gaskets .

Well, those parts are now good, but i promptly found another fuel leak right at the output high pressure line where it makes its first bend toward the frame. That repair comes later once i get the proper fuel line fittings and long enough hard line.

Now its beer time and the pants are off for the night. Gasoline and Guinness

also noticed that someone tried to break my passenger side window with a piece of wood fencing, which i assume to steal my oldskool pioneer radio or the vhf radio in the truck. Both of which I removed today. WTF, g'damn thieves. I might just bait them and stalk from the woods. The same people vandalized another car and ruined an old lady's garden last night too.

Awww Ed, where's your sense of adventure? It' the latest craze, it's called Elmer Fudding; I've also heard it reffered to as going Donald Duck or just ducking.

I got my exhaust out today. One of the flanges was bent and leaking and the other had no gasket.:bang: Now need to figure out what I'm going to put back in there. I took it down to Robert's Custom Exhaust last week and he didn't have much interest in working on it other than bolt on parts and he didn't want to touch the manifolds. I haven't contacted Murphy's yet but I'm tossing around the idea of just putting an OEM setup back on, except for the y-pipe and second cat, those 2 parts are $2000. o_O Magnaflow makes a direct fit y-pipe and cat for ~$500. I did pull the manifolds as well (those rear 2 nuts are a pain in the ass!) and I'm trying to find a local ceramic coater to spray them. I'd love to do an over-the-frame custom exhaust but finding a shop willing to do it has proven difficult so far. Replacement hardware will be in route from Onur just as soon as I decide which way I'm going. Needless to say I'll be cruiserless at the meeting this week.

Fun stuff! Not really.

Don't go with the bosal replacement down pipe... Mine was an inch or so short and f'd up the whole Borla cat back system alignment. The problem with the original exhaust is that the flanges rust and create gaps. The only way to correct it is to weld in ne flanges or replace the whole thing. The rumor is that the toyota exhaust is a lifetime guarantee... I'd check with Onur on that to confirm. I don't see why an exhaust shop wouldn't build to you a custom exhaust to your specs.
I think the Magnaflow down pipe to cat #1 is a decent deal and actually I found it for $339 with google (you don't need the Cali cat). You can get that and cat #2 for under $600. Then have Murphy's bend up the rest.
Or go with these guys: http://www.emspowered.com/storefron...uct_info&cPath=61_119_120_121&products_id=761. I just don't know what there lead time is and I've heard not great things about their customer service.

Here is the same setup from the same guy under another website: http://www.nkpracing.com/storefront/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=344
It has more options for the exhaust. In his contact page, it says he's a 1 man show and could take a while for him to respond.

Luke can be tough to get to sometimes. Best to call them early in their AM around noon EST. It can be frustrating, but also hit him with emails he will respond, it just takes some time. I went through the same thing.

Called him yesterday and they have to make a run of arms. Said he would get them out today. I just start getting a little impatient. I know I would get them. It was just when.

That sucks. Robert (I assume that's his name) was great with my exhaust, but that was a couple years ago. I had him do everything BUT the Y-pipe, which now leaks, of course.

I'm working on finding a new tow rig. Matt blacked out and went off 29 on Thursday. He was taken to Heathcote hospital by ambulance, had x-rays and a CT and was pushed out the door. They never checked to see if he had a concussion. Not a great hospital experience. Matt appears to be OK.
