Changed the oil in the 40 today. Looked at the motor mounts. My drivers side was toast also. Had a descent spare from the stash I got from Tom. Drilled it out for a 1/2" bolt.
All good.

Picked up the 2F from @shmukster this Sunday. Pulled it out of the bed of the Tundra last night and started tearing it down. I need to get it on a stand and cleaned up. The plan, for now, is to strip it down and use it to build up the 2FE so I can just pull the 2F from the Tick and pop in the 2FE.

I got some good topics of conversation for the GSMTR campfire. I will be soliciting opinions regarding the engine build.

I've been doing some research on doing my 2FE conversion.

That mount was toast. Seems to be a trend now.

Did the top to bottom fluids check and oil change in anticipation of the trek to GSMTR only ten days from now. Noticed the power steering belt was a little loose, I tensioned it and took it to fill-up the gas tanks. Steering has a minor binding feel to it and it turns out the pump reservoir pinch seam is perfectly aligned and interferes with the bolt heads on the steering shaft u-joint collar when the belt is tensioned to spec...rats! Backed it off and ordered a slightly shorter belt. Went out this evening to remove and install a new rear motor mount and found a puddle of ATF/Power Steering fluid on the floor.

Got the motor mount replaced, but will now have to pull the fender off to figure out if I have a hose leak or a reservoir leak. And here I thought the dirty prep work would be done this evening.:frown: Now, I'm feeling the impending doom of a failed PS pump hundreds of miles from home. I have a 60 series pump, but it has never been mounted to my F155 (using a Saginaw pump right now). :worms:

Perfect timing!:bang:

It's finished enough to make it to make it to GSMTR. Still some work like making the doors fit and fixing the gauges but I've been out of the country. I get home tonight and back to work in the 40.

Slacker!!

Power Steering is back together, just have to put the fender back on. Decided to wait a day just in case another lake of red showed up under the 40. That ATF goes everywhere.

The red lake is back:(. It appears to be leaking around the rear mounting hole. I thought about using sealing tape on the threads, but it looks like there is a threaded bushing and the leak is around the bushing. So, I ordered a replacement pump today. NAPA quoted me delivery on Tuesday, but Advance quoted me delivery tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes in tomorrow and I don't have hassles with the seal on the high pressure side.

Sounds like a sacrifice to the Cruiser gods may be in order.

Second the sacrifice of a Jeep to the cruiser gods!

My '97 4runner was overheating in stop and go or idle. Preemptively ordered a newer clutch fan before testing the current one, which I think tests ok. I was half a gallon low on coolant in the radiator, which better explains the idle overheat. So, I still have coolant leaks.

Ordered new valve cover gaskets, related plugs aND seals, and intake manifold gaskets to fix the passenger side rear oil leak. Damn this is expensive compared to my inline engine toyotas. $275 v $15 kind of difference. Once the intake is off I'll be better able to screw with those rear coolant lines.

Still is pretty damn fun to drive the cruiser around with the windshield down, women flashing titties kind of cool.

New PS pump is in hand...tomorrow it goes in come hell or high water (very likely the latter).

Wrong pump, but managed to get the correct pump this morning. Installed it and it too leaked from the rear mounting hole. Tape on the threads and a fabric washer sandwiched between the housing and the mount just in case has done the trick. Just have to be careful about not over tightening.

Now it's time to start packing. Whew!
