Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Great thread. Certainly justifies the alignment pucks. Do you have the short side and both carrier pucks installed in your picture?
Yes, I do. The short side slid right on no problem.

WOW! What a difference in ride quality on my 40 after ditching the random parts store shocks for Bilstein 5125s. Completely different experience. Very smooth and comfortable.

That is certainly a relative term.

Of the 1 male drivers surveyed, 100% said the ride was 87% smoother than before. This survey had a margin of error of +/- 6%. :flipoff2:

Track on the bumper and mechanism in the back of the cruiser. Takes 30 seconds to reassemble.
It is a bit too tight between the tire and the hatch.

Where in the name of Pete should I mount my hi lift ???? Go!

If you extend the swing out 6"-8" you might could mount it there. Angled up behind the tire.

I'm worried it would be too much weight unless its close to the spindle. As stump said, its tight there. I was wondering if I could fab something up for the side of the basket but hinges so I could unclip something and fold the hi-lift over the top and have it swing down a little lower (with a stop so it doesn't hit the cruiser. If it was lower I could access it easier. So picture it nested in the basket with 2 claws grabbing the basket rail and being able to flow it over to get it a foot lower....I dunno..I'm frustrated with it though...I run without one ors row seat so maybe there is a clever interior mounting option on that side, but its a long one so I don't think so......

I like the extend the swing arm idea... there is a whole 1/2 of the bumper that is unused. You could probably get away with easing the tire carrier out a little, which would allow the whole jack room.

Put anouther swing out on the other side.
At some point I get frustrated at all my projects. I over think everything. If I just do it it seems to work out most of the time.
And if someone get all negative about some thing you've done tell them to F off you did it yourself and theta something to be proud of.

Future proofed the FJ40. While I was rebuilding the PS gear box because it was spewing from the input shaft, I tapped the box for ram assist in case I decide I "need" it in the future.

4x4 Labs sells their Hi-Lift bracket for $25. Would make it easy to find a good spot for it. I just use a couple 8 inch long grade 8 bolts through the back of my spare and 2 nuts on each to cinch it down against the tire.

Based on how tight it is behind the tire I am going with a butt simple option. The bar I will do a simple bumper mount

The foot and moving parts I will work up a mount for the rear seat area as I run with that removed for my dog. I just need to secure it so my 7 year old and beagle don't have a loose hazard in the back.

I'd like to find a destroyed rear seat to leach the mounting claws from to try and make some sort of quick release system I can mount to.

When it's time to wheel I can always put it together and strap it down in the back, but it literally takes 15 seconds to get it together anyway.
I decided for function over sexiness. I wanted to keep excess weight off the tire carrier anyway.
