Yup

@Diff Kraken How the hell does a vehicle get out of that parking situation? I have to assume that the other cars, or at least one, got there AFTER you.

This is standard here in my hood. I think they were there when I parked. The bigger trick is not hitting that tree while parking in the spot the Lexus is in :)

Thats not even tight. I think you've been out of the area too long John. Haha :steer:

What's the benefit of converting to manual hubs other than being able to do a burnout?
My main reason in converting is to have the option of not needing to do trail repairs on the front driveline. If I break a CV, the front diff, or front driveshaft I can simply unlock the hubs and turn off the CDL. The front driveline will no longer spin and I can drive out in 2wd.

Other claimed pros:
-It may drive better in 2wd on the road, they tend to have better manners at highway speeds
-potentially better MPG (not a goal of mine and I don’t really care if it does)
-less wear and tear on the front drive components. It’s a Land Cruiser so wear isn’t a huge concern, but it’s pretty common to tear 100 series CV boots so this may help prevent that by not turning them as much.

Cons:
-the full time AWD is better for inclement weather situations.
-the cost of the hubs and transfer case spool (you’ll likely never recoup your initial cost even if the MPG is better)

Sad part is it sat for 17 days at a Fedex location in PA. I was hoping to slam it on the back on Tech day.
Bring it on over so I can take some measurements and make one. Then we can put it on.

I will be here all day saturday working on my junk. Come on over.
I was actually looking at pics of these yesterday, to see if I could make one.

I could drop it off Friday or I will be going to Nico’s funeral. After that I could come by and just drive the kit up to you in the truck and then head back to get the 40 to see if we can get it mounted.

However you want to do it.

Went from this to this. Need to run some NiCopp brake and fuel lines, get some new body mount bolts, and she’ll be ready to roll back under the body.

So at age 50, and after driving a hand-me-down 260k mile 2006 Honda Ridgeline for the past 6 years, I decided it was time to order a new truck. I ordered a new Ford F-350 Tremor from a dealership in Iowa and got it for $6K under MSRP. I’ll fly to Des Moines and drive it back to New Mexico, possibly hitting some trails in Colorado on the way back.

It’ll have the 7.3L pushrod V8 with 430hp/475lb torque, a factory 12K winch, 35” tires, will tow 15,000lbs and have ~3800lbs of payload. I’m going to use it to tow my FJ40 from New Mexico back to Virginia and I’ll be able to tow a tractor, skid steer, or mini ex to maintain our property in Marshall, VA. It’ll also double as a family vehicle for our newborn daughter.

I really wanted to like the new Tundra but it’s lack of payload, lack of flat floor in the back, lack of bed access, lack of tow hooks, etc dissuaded me from going with Toyota this time. I figured if I’m going to drop this much coin I want some real capability.

I’ll be getting the best extended warranty I can because I don’t trust all these fancy electronics trucks have these days.

It’ll look like this:

That looks nice. Does the tremor package loose any tow capacity from the stock truck?

I have the de-tuned 7.3 in my F650 rollback. I am impressed but want to drive it in a 250/350 series, I am sure it will scoot!

No, it doesn’t lose any conventional (bumper pull) towing capability vs the gas non-Tremor. However, the diesel will tow ~18K conventionally when optioned with the heavy duty tow package.
