Danny , I just came across this...

Cooling fan left in place with snorkel, from @hecrod

I finished installing the snorkel today and 44 is purring!!

The flex-tube that came with the kit, for under hood, seems good quality... But, we'll see how it stands up to hellish temperatures under the hood. When/if it fails, I'll replace it with something better.

I was also concerned that the flex-tube wouldn't make the tight turns using problems... That's not the case, it works fine.

For now, I'm using only the air cleaner element... I may add a second filter ... Or, I may not...

I still need to raise the axles and cases vents...

So, here are the pictures.

I replaced the plastic hose with rubber hose. I have piece left if you want it.

It's about 2 feet shorter than pictured.

You can have it for shipping, once I figure out what that'll be.

still no deep water :hmm:

back on topic: axle breathers are more important to me relative to water crossings compared to a dorkel

I made it all the way across without higher axle breathers :bounce: but, I will be raising them... along with the cases.

But, as I said before, the snorkel is more for cool clean air delivery to the carb than for actual water fording... plus it makes me feel

Still looking for water to ford (;) Claudia @DSRTRDR) but, I raised my axle breathers by drilling my air cleaner and installing a 1/4" barb and running a 1/4" soft line.

I'll raise my tcase breather after the holidays, when I remove the seats and mat to install the insulation... I need to remove the hump to get to the tcase breather.

I'll also cap the tranny breather (at the gear shift) at that time. I run a tcase-tranny bypass hose, so (as @jim land pointed out) the tranny will vent thru the tcase to the air cleaner.

The distributor is sealed and vented thru the air cleaner, via a VCV.

So, once the tcase breather is raised and the tranny breather sealed, I will be ready to embark on my :steer: to visit Peter (@Bambi Girl), Tom (@lostmarbles), Rudi (@bj40green) and Eric (@FJ4043).

Watch for me Mates!!

Kijk voor mij Jongens!!

The 44 is a mighty Land Cruiser so ocean currents won't be a problem Danny.

If it was a puny Jeep even a little stream would likely drown you as this video proves ...

Epic fail!! I liked the stick figure on the other bank!!

Is that the guy who stripped to his budgie smugglers and ran in to help? He's very lucky he didn't drown ... (Same as the last guy to get out of the Jeep.)

I was going to suggest bigger tyres to help you with flotation. Trouble is, they tend to flip you upside down:

Note that there's some gentlemanly exiting tips in this video. (Dianna first, then daBoise, and you last..)

Actually the dog probably caused the rollover by moving over to look out the LH window. So while you may need bigger tyres to give you enough flotation, if the dogs move the centre of gravity one side or the other, give Dianna instructions that she must always counter it by moving to the opposite side.

Yeah, I saw that... Loved the way he flung the dog!! As soon as the guy jumped out, it flipped over. Must have been really deep on the other side.

Yeah, the stick figure is the guy who stepped into the current and disappeared. Then he came creeping back thru the rocky rubble.. He was very lucky!!

Crossing water is fun.moving the axel breathers is good. But remember the axel seals are meant to keep oil in not water out. Look at the seal direction of seal. Best is to always change the fluids in axel and trans cases.

Thanks - the seals are in right... and I'll change the fluids, but haven't found water yet... this lake was dry
