Where do I get a fishing license?

I can bring salad stuff and sweet potatoes, oh yeah and bacon. I love me some bacon.

There's a stove at this place, right?

Pretty sure I saw a range listed as included. We'll have at least 5 burners of camp stove, too, between Johnny, Eric and me. I will assume that there are NO other kitchen items present so bring anything you'll need. I like the Eat What We Catch idea but want a backup plan. I've gotta get through today before I can shift out of work mood enough to think about this. Not sure if I'll get food in CLT or on the way - my plans will become much more extravagant if the weather looks bad and we're cabin-bound.

Fishing licenses are available at Walmart, most hunting/fishing shops and possibly at Morris Marina. They can also be purchased online now. You will need to make sure the version you get covers coastal/saltwater.

I've got a surf rig and might have a second for Eric. I'll also have a lighter duty rod or two.

Ooooh, I like extravagant.

I'll have my normal camping utensils and cookware. Large cast iron pan, large cast iron skillet / griddle, small aluminum frying pan, spatulas, cutting board, some spices, napkins, prep knives, etc. It's enough for two people to prepare a bunch of food, but the number of items that can be made at one time is limited.

How about Bacon Explosion? Have y'all had that before? I could whip one up and bring it with me to cook when we're there.

Where do you get a fishing license? Freaking Yankees @GLTHFJ60 I will acquire a few fishing rods and gear.
The cabins have kitchens stoves and oven but no utensils or pots and pans. If yall forget something you can let me know I can bring over with me. I might just eat MREs lol
@JohnVee if we are eating what we catch we will need a few sharp fillet knives, breading and oil to fry the Drum. Flounder need to be a certain size.....
My plan is to sit in the sun with booze and chain smoke cigars! The weather so far looks decent!
Who is bringing firewood?

I don't have any firewood, nor know where to get it. Meatloaf, do you still have a source? I can fit a bunch in my truck.

there is a few places around morehead we can get some i think

Hey guys, I gave Mr Forrest a heads up last night, but it looks like we're going to have to sit this trip out… Mother-in-Law is having medical issues, which are causing other complications with her family, and we are likely headed down to Jacksonville next weekend. Catch lots of fish and take pictures! Cabin 17 is available if anyone wants to call in and reserve it. Also, Phil and his wife cancelled their reservations, so that cabin is also available. I really hate to bail out, we were looking forward to this trip!

Sorry to hear that Jeremy was looking forward to seeing yall! See at the xmas party and I hope everything works out for the MIL

Well... Hate to hear it Jeremy. I was dying to fight crime with Lynda Carter. And I hate that Phil won't make it, either. Was looking forward to actually being able to sit and talk to both of you.

I got a second surf rig for Eric. Just gotta string it up.

I'm thinking of dinner one night as mussels and pasta. Pick up mussels on the way in with some tomatoes, bread, etc. Fresh fish trumps that but leaves pasta as a side or main if you don't like seafood. Maybe polenta as a side. Yeah, lots of carbs. Kinda want to have stuff that can be used for lunch or dinner with anything we might have. I'll bring sauce for anybody who'd prefer that to mussels. The other night is unknown but I'd hope for fresh fish. Anybody?

We've got an oven and a stove in the cabin. There is a grill outside but I don't know if it's communal or if there's one per cabin. We'll also have some camp stoves as part of our regular kits.

A loaf of bread and some deli meat/cheese/produce can be lunch Saturday if nobody comes otherwise prepared.

Fish Tacos are easy enough and a good way to divvy up a minimal catch if Adam isn't the fisherman he claims to be.

If somebody wants to make and bring a big batch of chili or some kind of stew then that would rock as something to just heat and eat at any time. I'll do it if needed, on Wednesday, but might not have the time. Work might screw me until the minute we pull outta CLT.

I'm guessing that everybody but me is a big breakfast eater. Let's plan on eggs, bacon and hash browns. I'm kinda liking the cinnamon rolls that FJ60Cam did recently so I'll plan on that, too.

Does a sign up list ala Xmas Party work for everybody? Please chime in. I'm happy to cook or assist whatever meals are needed but feel free to step up and claim something if you want. Also, don't feel that you have to be a part of every meal. It might work better for some people, and won't be seen as a sign of antisocial behavior, to provide for themselves. Saturday lunch, for example, might be in 5 different places for us. Do what you need.

Johnny asked about a Bacon Explosion. I hope he remembers that I introduced him to that last year... And, yes, bring it if you want. We can grill or oven it. But please slice it thin! My heart still hurts from the one at the Xmas party.

Johnny has also posted kitchen items that he's bringing. I'll list mine here and update this as a master list for whatever anybody else posts. Please inform us if you'll need something specific and will or won't be bringing it so we don't have to double up on too much.

Everybody is on their own for drinks - coffee, tea, water, soda, beer, etc. Maybe somebody wants to bring a coffee maker and stuff if enough drink that crap? I don't know how y'all get that except at Starbucks.

I really wish I had of these for the trip (the grill, not the 6x). @reevesci might be a genius!

Sorry to hear you won't make it Jeremy!! Was looking forward to hanging out more :( Sent you a PM about the cabin. Maybe meatloaf and I should stay there so he has a bed too. Is Cabin 17 far of a walk from the cabin y'all are staying in? I hope that wouldn't mess up plans I've made thus far.

John, I remember now (about the bacon explosion) :D I'll whip one up.

I love the idea of fish tacos. Goes right along with actually catching fish! I can bring all of those supplies.

I will also be bringing coffee and my french press. Makes about 1.5 (real) mugs of coffee each time and each time takes less than 5 min, so we can get a bunch of coffee real quick.

Just put me for what ever you need me to bring . I will be bringing the big cooler .so I can bring the ice. Will be able to bring fish home if needed .

UPDATE:
After a quick call with John V to make sure I wasn't messing anything up, and a call to Adam to confirm, we now have Cabin 17 reserved!

Just received confirmation email. It's 100% ours, no backing out now!

Thanks y'all! God, I'm so bummed about this! :( I'm glad to know that everyone has a chance at being out of the elements, though. Looks like a tremendous spread that is being planned!

Just read through the updated posts of what everyone is bringing. I haven't finished my list yet but here's what I'm planning to bring:
