We did not ,but were some tents there .

I left Thursday evening for Meatstick's condo, where I spent the night, then drove with him up to the Marina where we met with everyone. First leg of the trip:

@ Chasing Tails, buying fishing gear:

Had to unload half the s*** in the truck to put ice and more beer in the coolers! Springs were hurting after loading up with firewood, ice, spare tire and everything else.

The drive out to the maria was super long and flat.

And the 34mph whippets, Ike and Guinness:

Saturday morning we gathered ourselves, ate some breakfast, then went driving. Our goal was to hit up Portsmouth Village on the opposite corner of the island, catch some fish for dinner, drink beer and smoke cigars. All was successful.

Stopped for some shots right at the northernmost corner of the island. You can see Ocracoke island in the distance.

These people took boats from Ocracoke over to PI, then supposedly hiked through that marsh pictured above to the beach, baby strollers and all.

This house has been standing since 1850. Pretty impressive.

The other three trucks got a ride on the 10am ferry, so Meat and I waited till a little after noon for the 12pm ferry. Drank a beer, smoked a cigar and enjoyed some chocolate while waiting!

The drive home was long, but uneventful. Will post up the videos I took soon.

Like Eric said there were some tents out there but most stayed in cabins or in RVs. I would love to camp in a tent out there but there is definite value in having the cabins for showers and restrooms as evidenced Sunday morning when I got sick and "occupied" the bathroom for quite some time!
This trip has shot to the top of my must do soon list..... did anyone tent camp??? That's how I want to end up doing it

As Al stated, this trip has moved up on the must do list ...

First beer of the day at 10:00am.

Late start, eh? :flipoff2:

Says the guy who cannot have a cold one for another 7 weeks and 2 days (but who's counting?) ....

It's stupid that they only allow you to embed two videos per post now, but there you go.

Post #205, pic 3... I'll be damned, we WERE between the trail markers on the way in!

Anybody who wants to go to PI at anytime should let @FJ Junkie know. She'll be happy to go whenever.

I had a good time, despite the wind and cold at times. We could NOT have been luckier with the weather on Saturday. Got cold again that night but it was great for a fire.

It was great that Adam was able to go after recommending this trip in the first place.

Thanks to Johnny and Adam for bringing all the beach rod holders. Next time we'll rig up some rod holders for the trucks to make transport a little easier.

It seems that lots of people in our little ONSC world want to camp on PI. Let's settle on a time with moderate weather and minimal insects and add it to the 2015 calendar.
