What kind of remote island has better cell coverage than my office in CLT???

We all made it to the ferry before it shoved off. Four trucks, seven people, two dogs, one quad, untold 12oz's. Sunny weather. Wind. Cold. Did I mention the wind and cold?

After getting unloaded into the cabins, everybody took off and Sarah and I stayed in to prep some fishing gear then we hit the beach to catch whatever swam by. Then we went back to get the truck to use as a wind blocker. Then I went back in for jacket #2. Then I rooted around in the truck for some gloves. Then I went back in for hat #2.

I don't know these weird saltwater fish, but I can say for sure that I caught a bunch of skates and a few other things. Maybe croaker and a tiny drum? I'll look it up later. None were eaten by us. Eric caught one on his first or second cast, too. We went back in about 30 minutes after sunset to thaw out, grab some libations and eat some of Marie's chili.

Mike played DJ as we argued about the whole Soundgarden/RATM/Audioslave thing. I'm sure we'll revisit that tomorrow.

Hoping to wake up to a big breakfast then drive around the island some more and play with Mike's quad. His dogs have had no trouble keeping up with it yet - Whippets. Damn fast beasts. Fishing will also be continued. Our neighbors say the daily catches have been different each day so I'm looking forward to that.

the fact is audio slave took the best parts.of sound garden and RATM....... Kinda bummed about cell coverage out there. I like camping trips where I don't have to look at it .

sounds like a great time and the weather is right up my alley

I tried to get a pic of the entire cabin. This is the best I could do. The right thing glowing on the wall was a heater. To the right of that, not shown in the pic, is the bathroom. There were two entrances to the cabin. Both sides had porches. One had chairs.

On Saturday we drove approximately 15 miles to the end of the island. Once at the end we drove into the interior of the island and through the marsh to get to the remote Portsmouth Village. I rode with Marie as she drove the Taco. She's a fearless driver; cool as a cucumber. I see a cruiser of her very own in her future for sure. Unfortunately I was too busy hoping we wouldn't get stuck in the marsh and forgot to take pics.

Yes, those last two are of us treading lightly. What looks like a canal is actually the road that we were told to stay on. It's surrounded by soggy marsh land but it's pretty firm under the water.

This trip has shot to the top of my must do soon list..... did anyone tent camp??? That's how I want to end up doing it
