Squirt is a great option, as long as you know how to work with it. I came to the Landcruiser world from the performance oriented VW and Audi scene, and there are a lot of fast, reliable cars running around even as daily drivers on megasquirt. There are also a few that are complete train wrecks that should have every wire and piece of electronics in the car ripped out.

Do the megasquirt systems fail more often then others? From my research it looks like there are more megasquirt systems out there than the other guys. They are definitely cheaper and I've heard a few stories of boards failing. These have all been Diy boards that are soldered at home so there is quite possibly a huge margin of error there. The ms3 pro look much more capable than the haltech 1000 but just under the abilities of the haltech 2000. This Ms3-pro with wiring harness is 1100 shipped. It's waterproof which is pretty cool for an off road trail rig. It looks like it will easily be able to handle the 6 sequential injectors and 6 sequential coil on plugs I want to run.

I think what Tools R Us did here:

Mine was set to the middle setting, moved it to the highest position. Adjusting is easy, using a screwdriver in the slot, push in and turn to the desired setting. The retainer pin just slips into the slot in the valve body, so hold it in place when you push the valve in.

Before and after adjustment pictures.

Is 5500 too much for a 210k 97 locked fzj special edition. Mechanically sound cel light is on from bad catalytic converter driver seat has cracks and slight rips. Slight stains in carpet. Front brush guard is bent slightly. It's a one owner with maintenance records for everything clean carfax

No that is a very good price. The carpet can be pulled and cleaned. The brush guard needs to come off anyways. Check the coolant overflow for bubbles when he revs it to 2500-3000rpms. Check the front knuckles as well for any leaks.

OK trying to get it around 5k it's a 4hr drive the guy says it's easily reliable and in good enough condition to make the drive back to Houston. Might head out there and pick it up

Wasnt able to take off work. If the guy still has it this weekend Ill make the 8 hour round trip and snag it up.

210k miles

Good luck, I called and emailed them and they couldn't tell me what they upgrade.

Like I said, you can spend your money on them, but I would be willing to bet $100, all they do is put in a rebuild kit and do the valve body modifications.

A small shop like Level Ten does not have the capability to make gears, or to cut splines so all those are out. Do yourself a favor and look up their reputation as well.

All of the shops I tried to talk to that had this great upgraded transmissions would not or could not tell me what they upgraded for sometimes several thousand dollars. I am convinced they prey on the people that don't know anything about automatic transmissions, they get an old worn out trans put new clutch packs back in and do the valve body and "OMG this is the best transmission ever!"

Oh and by the way the Transgo kit, comes with different springs and different sized drill bits, so all of this "We carefully select the spring weights, orifice sizes and location, valve size, and port modifications" are in the instructions of the $100 kit. lol.
Hey Scott, who would you recommend these days for a bulletproof A343F for DD/hwy/overland use with a S/C and 35s? I'm rebuilding the engine, so now I'm concerned about the 30yo transmission behind it...

Sorry to be this guy, but someone needs to do it.
Have a read of the thread and the responses to your other threads. Scott is running a stock rebuilt trans (built by someone competent) and the Transgo shift kit. As per the other threads, your 80's transmission isn't made of glass and especially with the 50 whp power increase of a TRD blower, won't be anywhere near failure due to power.
Freshen it up if you want to, install a decent transmission cooler and a shift kit or wholesale valve body and run it. Job done.

Ha. Yes I was told privately that these are so overbuilt that doubling the horsepower wouldn't come close to smoking one. And I'm not doubling the hp. On the other hand, the thing is now pushing 30yo and 250k, and I don't want to guess when it's had enough. So I guess it comes down to finding 'someone competent' at least. Which, these days, can be a challenge. Basically, someone who can build a tranny better than Boeing builds airplanes (and for a lot less money)...
