I will say I met with another 55 owner this past weekend and he had a new seat cover made. It also had a basketweave pattern to it. He said his shop had used a pattern out of a VW.

Could it be possible there were reproductions made a long time ago?

What year 55's were the basket weave pattern come in?

it looks like my '72 has it...

Enterprise guy's pig in a 72, just went out and his drivers side is a basket weave just like a VW, the pass side is factory as so with the rear seat.

All hail the basket weave!

Also a pic does not mean it is factory, but who knows?

If the basketweave that I have is a recover it's a REALLY GOOD job and it's both the front AND back seats as well. I'll post up pics later.

This isn't the Volkswagen basket weave. Ive been into vw's and vw clubs since 1982. I will send a photo. As I have said before there toll... you want to take this personal then thats your issue not mine. Piss off.

AAT... Over the years I have owned several FJ55's. And this pattern was in more then one and I have lived in more the one state since that first one I purchased. Infact I have two sets of seats in my garage and they are from different pigs... same pattern.
On the panels..... are they going to be sets only or can we buy them seperately? I just need them for the cargo bay.

It's Trollhole and aatlas1x..

You have way more experiance than I in the Toyota , restoration and VW field than I since I am new at this.. I did some research here on the board then Toyota and places like TLc and SOR.com

No idea on panels at this time.....

Is this out of your 76?

I can't say if the seats are from a '76, they are in my '76. They ARE piggy seats (bolted in PERFECTLY both front AND back) with removable headrests and the "wavy" top and the holes in the seat for the seatbelt buckles to come up through. My daughter got them from a guy who was selling off all his piggy stuff because the market was so small for it ($100 for both seats front and back in primo shape as well as a bunch of other piggy stuff).

The only flaw is a postage stamp sized patch on one side.

Actually, my '55 came from your neck of the woods! My daughter picked it up at the air force base in Mynot, ND. It was a "come and get it so I don't have to haul it to the dump" deal. The seats were bought from a guy in Vancouver, B.C.

Here's some photos from my seats including a closeup of the infamous "basketweave" pattern vinyl. As I was saying these ARE piggy seats NOT covers, the only thing I don't know for sure is the year.

The door panels were recovered. The plan was to recover the seats as well but my daughter lost the fabric and with a deal on seats like this why bother?

Very cool. Learn something new every day.

LOL,

I am going to say, no they dont. The color is like mine and so is the black. BUT the belts come up from the seat....

Yours a US spec model?

Yours a US spec model?

Yes it is!! It was a "come and get it before we squash it deal" and best of all it was free! We dragged it home from the air force base in Minot, ND in about 2002/2003. The seats were purchased in Vancouver, B.C., Canada from a guy who was getting out of used 'Cruiser parts.

btw, How are these different from the ones in my truck?? Obviously mine do not have the tears and mine have also been re-sprung so that it is somewhat comfortable to drive. The color may be somewhat off. The seats were using the flash on the camera and the weave pattern was without the flash.

So are the seats for a US spec ? No?

That I cannot say. Unless Toyota provided different seats for the Canadian and U.S. market I'd assume they were the same.

I still think mine are the same as the one in Kansas!!

The one in KS is not like yours, it is what mine were patterend off of. Not pushing you, I just have seen those many of times.

Yours might just be a NON US model as they could be differant due to weather? Only in vinyl not fabric. Just as leather for the 60 series was available for NON US....

Mine are all vinyl, including the weave pattern. Do your seats have the seatbelt passing through the front seat bottom like the one in Kansas and mine?

Both pics above show coming through......See my first pics and you will see what I mean.. I think

That's the exact fabric on my other seats. and yes mine are US spec.. as were my other FJ55's with the same weave pattern.
Please post several pics, years and vin
I'm not sure why this is such a big deal.... cant people understand there was more then one or even two types of center fabric used? Just say yes and look for the other fabric type. :D
Not a big deal at all. What about the ones with white interior??
There maybe three or even four now. So lets try and verify these super rare unknowns with documentation.
