@mbradshaw you are the man, I only hope I get the chance to meet you in person and find your favorite adult beverage.

Any clues you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few links to photos:

Relic Run 2016
This was the Pony Express Trail to Calleo CCC Camp, Gandy and Crystal Ball Cave with Gold Hill Camp, Wendover AFB Tour and Lucin Sun Tunnel Camp, then Transcontinental Rail Road to Golden Spike and home.

Relic Run 2018
This was Delle to Lakeside Cave Camp, Hoggup Pumps tour to Devil’s Playground camp, then Grouse Creek to City of Rocks camp, then Almo and back down to transcontinental railroad, golden spike and home.

:frown: Bummer but we're out for this year. Need at least one more bit of work from the VA before I can walk more than a few feet. Next ankle will be replaced in late Sept, and a knee in early spring so I really really want to make it next year. These get togethers look like so much fun! Be safe and have one for me guys!

Re: BBQ. I have always wondered how to get a roast pig to a PP event. I called around and one premier roaster (Meier's Catering) said the smallest oinker he does serves 80. So unless every one brings their entire family, cousins, great aunts, great-great grandparents and distant relatives from the old country, that probably won't work.

What they do offer for $18 a head (picked up);
Boneless Pork Ribs
BBQ Chicken
Potato salad
Backed Beans
Pasta Shrimp Salad
Fresh Fruit
Brownies

I know that Kurt has offer to field this but I thought I'd through in a little assist. There is a more economical version that is Pulled Pork and no Chicken for $14. I thought with the Chicken it would give Pork sensitive people a break.

No toe stepping intended. I'm getting hungry.

Wow Bob, I had no idea you were managing these kind of issues!
Get your mobility back and we will see you next time.
Good luck for a speedy recovery!

I have no preference other than let’s not make any additional work for Kurt - @cruiseroutfit

Sounds like you did some great research.

How about if you coordinate with Kurt next week while I am out?

Have we talked about radios?

We use the little baofeng radios and they work pretty good for these type trips but also have a handheld CB.

Wouldn't hurt to have a few extras scattered throughout the pack and I could bring a laptop to program them.

Amazon product ASIN B0772FYKK8

Amazon product ASIN B00MAULSOK

I am bringing my HAM radio. Any one else?
I can bring a hand held CB.
Not really looking to buy another radio.

Filling in a bit more detail on the Relic Run Routes and Camps and other stuff out there to see:

Calleo CCC Camp:
Shade, a picnic table, and a stream running right next to it were pretty nice along with the scenery. No toilets.

Gold Hill:
BLM/Forest Service land just South of Gold Hill for some dispersed camping. No water, no toilets. Not sure I could find it, but Kurt could probably point it out on a map for us.

Lucin Sun Tunnels:
Wide open and spacious. Can be windy at times. No shade, no water, no toilets, no cover. As we will be traveling though one day prior to the Summer Solstice, there will most likely be others camping there as well but can be cool to see the sun rise and set through the aligned tunnels.

Devil's Playground Camp:
Approx. 23 miles North East of the Sun Tunnels along the Transcontinental Rail Road Trail. Surrounded by some pretty cool rock formations and set on a hill overlooking the broad expanse of the desert valley. Some shade, no water, no toilets.

City of Rocks National Reserve:
In 2018 we stayed at the Juniper Group Campsite. Shade, toilets, water, $Fee. There are two more group sites, as well as regular campsites but need to arrive early or reserve prior to arrival if possible. There is forest service or BLM land adjacent and to the North of the National Reserve with un-improved camp sites.

As @cruiseroutfit mentioned, there are vault toilets here and there along the Pony Express Route, but they are pretty much nonexistent North of Wendover until you hit Grouse Creek, City of Rocks, or Golden Spike National Historical Site.

Not sure if the group is interested, but on the Relic Run events there were some organized tours of points of interest along the routes - The Hoggup Pump Station, a Pony Express Station, Crystal Ball Cave, Historic Wendover Airfield. The pumps and Pony Express Station probably can't be duplicated, and I know that there was a good deal of ground work put in place long before our runs to pull them all off - but could look into the airfield if there is interest. Sounds like you guys like your camp time as well, and might enjoy the extra time in camp otherwise.

Lots of stuff to see along the way; Simpson Springs Pony Express Station, Fish Springs Wildlife Refuge, Wilson Health Springs, town of Gold Hill, Bonneville Salt Flats & Speedway, Lucin Sun Tunnels, townsites and cemeteries along the Transcontinental Rail Road trail, the Repulic of Zaqistan, City of Rocks, Golden Spike National Historical Site, Spiral Jetty...

I would love to see Wendover Airfield!
And Bonneville, and the Sun Tunnels, and ghost towns!

Sounds like we better bring buckets to poop in, eh?

Anything I need to about meals beyond the Museum night BBQ? Everybody on their own, or is there any pot luck type of thing? Thanks!

Historically there has been a potluck.
I am barely going to have time to unpack/repack, so I likely will not have much to contribute on the potluck front...

Sounds like the museum dinner could be the group meal (pot luck). Since every one needs to make camp each day after the trail ride and it sounds like some might take a different route at some point.

That’s not to say we could not rob each other’s camp site of food and grog to take back to the main bon fire and share the spoils.

It's at 17, but @J Mack has not chimed in

Hey Megadoomer, is the count still around 17 or is J Mack 2 more

Seems to me the quickest and easiest (for us) way to handle the meal is to let Kurt make the arrangements. We'll all have enough to deal with. Appreciate his willingness to help.
