Hey Gang,

Wanted to give the group a bit of a trail update. I've been researching some North Rim trails and it seems like most of them are easy with only a few moderates trails. So hopefully everyone is okay with easy going drives with vistas. For those heading down to Sedona, hit me up because there are some trails down there that are both challenging and breathtaking, such as the Broken Arrow Trail. Last year I feel like we were all staring up at the beautiful San Juan peaks. This year, we'll be looking down.

Below are some trails near our camp:

1. Three Fire Towers: This is an easy run that we could run backwards from our campsite towards Jacob Lake. As the name implies, there are three fire towers to visit along this route which are usually manned by forest rangers. The trail consists of mostly smooth forest roads with a few mild rocky spots. Muddy sections possible during rainy periods. Length: 57 miles, plus 27 miles on pavement on way back to campground. Time: 4-5 hours. Elevation: 7,025 ft to 9,182 ft

2. Fire Point/Timp Point: This is an easy run with beautiful views of the north rim of the GC with no fees and no crowds. Los of other roads to explore in Kaibab National Forest. Most of the roads are wide and well maintained. Length: 48.6 miles. Time: 3-4 hours. Elevation: 7,537ft to 9,238ft.

3. Point Sublime: A favorite overlook on the north rim. The main route starts in the National Park (fees). My thought is that we could run this route in reverse ending up at the North Rim Visitor Center for dinner? By running it backwards, maybe we could avoid the park fees? Who knows. Length 44.4 miles. Time: allow 5-6 hours. Elevation: 7,309ft to 9,239ft.

June will be here before we know it.

Cheers!

If I crash this thing, will there be room for me? Not sure yet if I can pull it off. I'll need to start gathering wifey points now.
We'll all be disappointed if you're not there. Get busy!

So it’s their fault, eh?

It's not crashing when you have a ticket. That ticket is a Pig.
There should be camp sites for first come first serve, and worst case people are willing to bunk up camp sites.

There is a pig owner in Lakeside that may be going. We could all caravan...Pigavan.

I dragged that green/white '69 all the way from CO to Oceanside for you. (Wish I'd kept the horse hood ornament). North Rim is half that distance. You can do it! Man up and get busy. We'll even share our campsite.

See you there!

Seein as you don't need a 55 to attend... I have better shot; add 1 plus trailer
How about a '71 FJ40 with the transmission and transfer case from a '78 FJ55? I know it would have been better to actually still have the FJ55 on the road, but unfortunately it was T-boned in Santa Fe about 18 years ago, as a result it was relegated to a donor vehicle.

Late to (crash) the party, minus :pig:, and could only reserve a spot for one night, Tuesday, June 19th, Space 20. I promise to leave it clean for @mel lowe and crew, who will be rolling in sometime Wednesday. Hope to grab a management site on a first-come, first-served basis for additional nights.
