I had the front axle serviced by a 3rd party a couple months ago and have some 12-6 play. I also want to get into the hub and replace the wheel studs.

A few questions that I'm pretty sure I know (read as: will find out) the answer to, just looking for some piece of mind consensus from those with physical experience and haven't seen a direct answer anywhere else...

- Is the 25-35 ft lb torque mentioned as the @Tools R Us preload method applied to the "adjusting nut"?

- Is it necessary to remove the caliper to remove the hub? It doesn't seem like it would be, but videos/FAQ/FSM show the disc and hub get pulled together.

- Should I be worried about reusing the snap ring, gasket, and lock washer if they are in decent shape (~2 months old)?

TIA, Alex

yes, applied to the inner nut, smaller sized tires (33" or less) torque to 20 to 25 ft-lb, bigger tires (35"+) 30 to 35 ft-lb

yes, remove caliper - 2 bolts, remove hub, separate rotor from hub - 6 bolts, replace wheel studs

no, parts can be reused if good condition
