Agree with the black wheels and rack. My rack and wheels were already gray, so I wasn't going to tackle that right now. I think it looks pretty good as is, but the black bumper does look better. I absolutely despise gray body trim though. We will see how it looks covered in mud tomorrow! Also, from my experience, new paint looks kinda crazy for a few days, then it calms down and isn't so vibrant. I must admit, I want to do that throwback scheme.
That throw back is freaking AWESOME!

NO!!! Don't change those wheels. Black wheels just disappear. They end up looking like black holes under the truck. Your current wheels are badass! (Okay sure... I'm a little biased) If you change anything - match the bumpers and roof rack... black or gun metal. Still loving that color!

I'm thinking it's looking good how it is now. I agree, the wheels look good gun metal, that was your influence.:)

My vote - white headlight buckets and grill surround, black insert (middle) mesh portion with white lettering for TOYOTA. Leave the rest as is, I think it is perfect. If anything, though, rear bumper could be painted silver, perhaps? I used a metallic gray ceramic engine paint for the bumper that is in my avatar - super tough, nice silver-ish color.

The color in photos really doesn't look correct. Looks better in person. I think the white center section on the hood would look good, like the black that others have done.

Really like the color matched side trim. If i may ask, what was your process for prepping and painting the side panel trim? I would like to do mine in black.

Scuff with gray scotch pad from Auto both supply shop. If you sand through to bare plastic then you need to spray those spots with plastic primer. You have to clean it really well first, then scuff and clean it again. Make sure you get into every crevice and scuff every area.

Looks awesome. You have skills sir. Mind blown on the speed of this project. This may be grounds for getting kicked off the forum, but I'll just say it. I think it would look sweet with wood panel accent like a vintage wagoneer. I like gatormark's idea too.

Just back from HIH. Had tons of nice complements and feedback. Today the paint looks much more correct for the color. I noticed yesterday it was settling and looking good. Today it’s even better, I am happy. Always seems to take about a week before new paint looks right.

I saw your car just briefly, I think as you pulled in one evening. Looked great from 10 feet and I wish I could have seen more, but this year was the busiest by far for me, yet. I didn't even get to do one leisure lap around camp. :(

Nice work getting such a huge project done so quickly. Feels like you could have a show on cable TV/Youtube, doing good work that fast!

Women are crazy, don’t listen to them. She’d probably just change her mind after it’s done anyway.

It’s beautiful how it is. I’m not sure if you saw my last question, how did you secure the side trim back on? Did you use clips old/new or just 3m VHB?

3m tape, threw the clips away. That tape is crazy strong. Must use adhesion promoter for plastic though, or the tape won’t stick.

Cool. Goo gone got everything off the car itself. I’m going to goo gone the mouldings themselves then use what you’ve recommended. Thanks!
