Noah,

I am planning on going to TDS next year, I do most of my wheeling in Big Bear or Johnson Valley, I will be sure to let you know.

This morning I cut off the old spring perches (with the new plasma) and ground the excess smooth. Next I made some headway my rear spring hangers, I used 4 x 4 x.250 wall. Keeping them flush with the bottom of the frame.

Yesterday I picked my beadlocks from the weld shop and found my new later model firewall with the power booster ribbing and steering column mount.

I'm glad someone else out there likes a green cruiser! Kep up the good work, I wish I was as motivated...

Lumpy,

What?????? I remember "chopping" firewood, not "shopping" firewood. But yes, it did ruin the trip.

Cam,

To have them do it, it cost me a coffee mug to get them welded, so I figured what the heck!!!
Now I am waiting for the 37 MTR's.

GarnerFJ40,

I always wanted a red cruiser. The color of this one was just too annoying not to repaint it green again.
Lime Green that is :grinpimp:

I was able to spend some time in the garage today. I had to remove the rear cross member, due to it being bent. I was able to get it out without removing the tub (thanks to the plasma!!!), it made short work of the rivets and frozen in place body bolts. I clamped the rear spring hangers on the frame to see where the shackles will end up, and the WB is now 105". I hate to trim that much out of the fender opening, but the room will be needed for my motor, trans and t-case combo. I still need to make a rear bumper/cross member, my upper shackle mount will attach to it as well. I am waiting for my Rubicon Express builder balls, they will be used for my upper shackle mounts. Couple of pics from today.

nice work, you got all weekend now to get some more done ;)

Thanks Cam,

I wish I had all weekend. For the next 2 months my weekends are pretty busy with work and instructing at the fire academy. Thursday is a free day for me, so I will get some time it. My parts should be in by then and it will hopefully be on the ground on all 4 tires again.

Terry,

I love the plasma, it was the best $40.00 I have ever spent!!! Now if I only
had an air compressor to keep up with it............... ;p

Ill trade u my air compressor for your plazma any day :) ,

i picked up my air compressor at the pawn shop for like 160 bucks up here in seattle area it was over 300 new , really enjoy your build , looks like you have great skills and talent cant wait to see more and i really like the color , for u not me/ Tan is my color /aka Rattle Can Robb

Robb,

Thanks for the support, I had a 77 FJ40 that was rattle canned khaki tan. Easy touch ups!! Sure miss that truck........... :frown:

I got Snotz down on 4 wheels today, a milestone indeed. I will post up pics of the progress on Thursday. Received my Rubicon Express parts and bought my material for the rear frame rail/bumper. Will be fabbing up the rear bumper on Thursday, as well as the upper shackle mounts, using the Rubicon Express builder balls. Then it will be on to the motor, trans and t-case, it will sure be nice to get the 74 donor car out of my driveway.

I did not get anything done yesterday as I had hoped, but today, I was able to make some headway.

I cut and welded in the rear bumper (2x4x3/16), the ends were chamfered with the same pattern as the front bumper. I will cap the ends on this one as well.

Saddle mounts were made out of 2x3x1/8 square tubing to hold the Rubicon Express balls. These ball mounts are 3" in diameter, so I broke out the trusty hole saw and angle grinder. Tomorrow everything gets welded and will have pics of the new stance.
