Thanks Dan. Come by anytime and check it out. I am hoping to fire it up before Christmas! I just reread your email. The knuckles and bits from the mini axle sound like maybe the best option. I have a knuckle rebuild kit and disk brake pads for a FJ60. Will these work on the mini truck stuff? Does it have calipers?

How about Wednesday? You gonna be around on Wednesday this week?

Yep, the 60 series kit will work with the mini truck knuckles. No sweat. I've got a couple sets of mini truck, FJ-40 and FJ-60 calipers.

Absolutely great looking with the tub on the frame!

Dan

I went to go put the manifold back on along with a few new manifold studs. Instead I discovered why the PO had used a bolt on the number six manifold stud hole. It appears he force threaded a standard size bolt in there! I ended up buying a Time Sert kit to fix it. Similar to a helicoil, but higher quality. The kit was 98 bucks! Pissed! At least it's done.

More progress. Slow going, but the excitement is really building! I gave it the MMO with some PB blaster in the cylinders. Primed the oil filter with oil before installing. Hand cranked the piss out of it. Real smooth ! All filled with oil. A few more things to do before turning the key, but its close. Looks like weds will be the day if all goes well

That's the gas filter. It either needs to be plugged or have vacuum lines hooked up to it.

Looking great! Where are you getting your zinc hardware? Also how did you just zinc the bracket on your fuel line and not the whole line?

Thanks for the compliments.

KYlonghunter I am desmoged, but not sure if it was all done correctly and what parts were kept. I have been reading all the desmog threads so I have an idea of what I am looking at. I will be reassembling everything per my photos prior to disassembly. I did have vac lines attached to the gas filter. I will have to check my pics when I get home. There are a few variables at play here. I don't have a vac advance dizzy for starters. I am running a D.U.I. Distributor so no lines for that. Also some carbs are modified internally for desmog and others aren't. That will effect what vac lines go where. Some people keep the HAC and the HIC and others pull all of it. Most pics I have seen show the gas filler pulled and capped off with a Allen head plug. I am not even sure what all I have yet. Time to open up my box that has all the vacuum lines and such that connect everything.

As for the plated hardware..... I am using a kit purchased from a mud member. He has a website, but I can't find the link. It's the cadmium plated bolt kit. Not cheap! I also took a box of parts and bolts to a local plater and had them done for around 70 bucks. That's when I did the fuel line bracket. It snaps off of the fuel line. Sad part is I broke it yesterday while putting my oil filter on.

I boiled my core for about an hour or so to loosen everything up then I gave it a spa treatment in CLR for another few hours. The core appears to have been damaged before, but repaired. In the end it came out squeaky clean and passed my pressure test.

What the Truck?

Nice Work, one question... How did you mount your power steering pump? I'm gonna be doing a mini truck power steering conversion myself... I already have the pump and the box, I just need the brackets to bolt it all up. Where did you get the brackets from and what not?
Thanks,
Mike

Try orangeFJ45- Goerg. He's got it all!

JT Outfitters also sells a pump bracket for Saginaw pumps.
