Thanks! The hard part now is staying the course. I just want to slap it all back together and drive it rather than take my time and clean up and paint all the little parts.

Don't be tempted! In 5 years you won't remember saving a few minutes, but you WILL be bothered by that one little part that doesn't match the rest of them.

Don't ask how I know. ;)

Looks AMAZING.

Man yours is coming along as well.....for sure stay on course and take your time with it....it just makes driving it that first time that much better. It is looking SOLID man. Keep up the work.

Weren't you going over seas? This is a killer thread, one of my favorites right now.

Glad you like the thread. I am taking as many pics as possible for your viewing pleasure:popcorn:

Yeah I landed a job over in Dubai and I was all set to ship out March 2nd. I himmed and hawed with my fiance for sometime about actually taking the job. We finally decide to go for it and go live in the Sand Pit for a few years. Literally a week after we made the commitment to go I received an invitation to interview with my dream job! I stopped all work on the 40 and focused on that interview. I interviewed Jan 9th and was told I was hired 2 weeks later! :bounce::bounce::bounce: Training for the Job started march 7th and went through the end of April. So the 40 sat for a bit, but now that I am all settled in the new job I am back at it with full steam. I keep day dreaming about what its going to be like driving this thing. I forgot what it drives like! Can't wait!

Ordered a few parts for the 40. I discovered that the fork boot has a few holes in it. I cleaned it all up and just figured I would reuse it anyways since they were small, but the boot doesn't fit. What gives? I fiddled with it for some time yesterday, but it's just to big. It must be from a different model. I also discovered that the transfer case had no nose cone boot. Maybe it did, but I blasted it off with the pressure washer way back when. I need to get my arse out in the garage, but I am feeling lazy since a major Thunderstorm hit last night and kept me up for hours. Just drinking coffee and pissing away time reading mud!:p

Alright opinions please. I am headed out to clean up the transmission and transfer case. I will be painting the transmission a semigloss black, but I am undecided about the transfer case. Do I paint it or just try and get it really shinny and new looking? Pro's and Con's? Any one have a recommendation for where to buy a Transfer case saver?

Bare metal for the T-Case! It's Aluminum, so will stay nice if you keep it clean. Or paint it a grey/silver, that would be my vote.

Georg Esterer at Valley Hybrids for the T-Case saver would get my vote. Orangefj45 here on MUD (I'm probably misspelling that though). Not sure if Mark, Poser of Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters sell them either, but I'd buy from any
Of them without hesitation.
