The paint is Chassis Saver paint. It's very similar to POR15 , but it's flexible so you can paint your springs with it. You can also paint directly over rust with it. The downsides to it are that it isn't UV protected however the guy at the paint store used it on his truck nearly ten years ago and he said it has barely faded even being parked outside at his cabin in the mountains during all seasons. Another down side is how long it takes to dry. It's drying time is based on humidity and being in Colorado means low humidity and longer drying times. Can says 3 to six hours before applying a second coat and 72 hrs for full cure. It's definitely the longer of the two for me. If I had to do this all over again I would have just gone with a black epoxy primer and a clear coat. Only thing is you have to like the high gloss look. I prefer the black satin finish except on things like the air cleaner. Under carriage I prefer to be satin finish.

I found guy here in Denver who will do plating for 120.00 for a five gallon bucket of parts. off to the plater next week with a ton of parts.

Share the love, who is the plater in this area that'll do that?

Blasted a pile if bolts and random stuff before heading to the plater.

Got this pile back from the plater today. All said and done it was $85.00 . I also spent time blasting everything before it went out for plating. Almost everything came out great with the exception of a few bolts that weren't blasted completely free of rust. The finish is a bit different since it has the texture from sand blasting it. Some of the larger pieces almost look green. Really happy! Now it's time to start bolting things together.

Is that CAD plated, it looks like it? That's a great price if it is. Really good looking prep and paint on all the other stuff. Did you just use rattlecan?

Hi Dave ,
The parts are yellow zink plated. I did not even think to ask about cad plating. Wish I had since some of the parts didn't come out all that great due to the texture the sand blasting left on the parts. The yellow zink seems to come off easily too. I had to use a BFH to get some of my greasable shackle bolts to seat correctly. This stripped the zink off pretty quick. I started reassembling the engine and discovered a bunch of bolts that need cleaning . Wish I had them plated. I love the bolts in your kit, but it's all the specialty bolts for motor mounts, flywheels etc. that aren't covered in the kit. Eats up a lot of time cleaning and painting the bolts. I refuse at this point to put anything dirty back on the truck. The hard parts going to be putting the first scratch on it.
