Guard dog in training. Max is 13-14 and the kid is 3.5 months. We call him The Terrierist. He is either as pictured or 100 MPH.

warn winch

Any opinions on buying a used winch?
I was looking at the same one earlier tonight for my 80! I bought an 8274 a few months ago and it needed new solenoids. No big deal. That's an awesome price for an M12000.

You'd be fine using a used Warn. Parts are available. Other brands not so much.

Although I have a Chinese winch on my wife's 80 and it has not let us down in 7 years the winch I have is no longer for sale. I have yet to check on parts availability but I am not holding out hope.

We also have a Warn Powerplant 12000K that is 8 years old and going strong. At this point, the next winch I buy will be a used Warn. Purely from the parts availability position.

I rebuilt my 8274 recently. Warn was great. They had all the parts I needed and even supplied me with free replacement decals. My Crockpot thread has more info about the rebuild. Some of the newer Warn products are made in China. As with many things these days, newer isn't necessarily better. IMO the old 8274 is the best winch ever made...period.

The more I research it the more I don't think its going to work with my Ironman Bumper. It looks like both the mounting and width are going to be an issue.

I know the 8274 has a different mounting pattern. I thought the M1200 was pretty much standard. You can move the solenoid pack to wherever you want if that is an issue.

It looks to be a front facing mounting pattern like the 8274. It would work with the ARB but not the Ironman unless I wanted to try and weld another mounting plate on the cross member.

Good job! Which instrument does he prefer? Now get him to do the Star Wars Cantina song.

Bassoon.

He's done it before. Hasn't recorded it, but I'll ask :)

If you want to pick it up and try it out, go for it. If it doesn't work, I'll PayPal you whatever you paid because I know it will work with my ARB. :-)
