One of the more dubious ones i've driven a few times in the UK is this one..... took me a minute to find a picture and had to remember exactly where it was first.

It is pretty simple when you remember the rules of the roundabout but since its 5 mini roundabouts around one big one plus pedestrian dividers it was a tad daunting the first time I pulled into it.

Also looking at it from from birdseye with an American POV where its going in the wrong direction it can even look strange.

So Keto dieters @weejub @erymer etc...... i'm finally about ready to give it a go, I have to first go through my food stock piles I have right now.
A couple questions, due to busy schedule i'll most likely be doing smoothies, shakes, in the morning for breakfast. Is there good keto powder stuff for it or should I just make up my own?
My lunches will most likely be something like brats and kraut just for the easy. (again my work week is stupid busy)
Dinner will be the one meal I actually take any time with. Does anyone have any good sites for crockpot meals or just good meals in general?

Snacks seem to be pretty easy.

Weekends will be a bit different as I don't work quite as long on the weekends as I do during the week. Also i'm giving it a go because i've really cut down on beer drinking to the point that I may have had one last month. If I do need or want a drink i'll break into the good scotch. Also with my office gym opening back up I can start going back. I was down to 250 right before covid and then no gym + working loads from home + bad eating habits made me put a ton of weight back on. My shoulder issues is making most heavy lifting a chore right now. So i'd say i'd like to get back to my highschool weight but that was a ton of muscle so i'll aim for quite a bit lower than my highschool weight lol.

My mother is from the UK, so I was theoretically familiar with roundabouts.... I got my first taste in real life going through one in downtown Abuja, Nigeria everyday. If you've never traveled to Africa, imagine a moderate level of normal confusion/frustration caused by roundabouts compounded by a society where traffics rules are generally regarded as mild "suggestions", and each road has as many lanes as you can fit vehicles side by side on it....totally depends on a countless number of vehicle combinations. It was "sporty" every day in the capital!

My head hurts when I read such poorly written mathematical articles, still, time to get your wellies out.

One of you smart guys should look into the numbers behind DDIs.

I had to research them for work and had to quantify their effectiveness.
being that I love efficiency I went down a long rabbit hole researching these type of intersections.

talking about driving tests. I remember having to take the written driving test to get my international license and that test was not joke. I had to memorize over 100 stupid signs and their meaning ( they were mostly European signs)

Having lived and driven In capital cities around the world i am always amazed at the chaos around me yet you rarely see an accident.

and believe me the first thing you notice when you come back to the states is how drivers suck here in the States.
Lastly, I can’t comment about driving without poking a little fun at the locals hahaha.
Do people in NC know that you don’t have to make a complete stop to make a right turn?
It is the one thing I have noticed about NC drivers. Not that it bothers me but just wander why it is so prevalent here. I always wander what it is that people are thinking when they slow down almost to a complete stop before they start turning right, this is at any right turn.
intersections or driveways or into parking lots.
just something I have observed since moving here.

where is this you speak of: Do people in NC know that you don’t have to make a complete stop to make a right turn?

nc driving hand book page 76:
A steady red circular signal means “STOP.” Unless there is a sign indicating “NO TURN ON RED,” a right turn can be made after coming to a complete stop.

page 79:
When a stop sign, traffic light, flashing light or other traffic-control device requires a vehicle to stop at an intersection, the driver must stop at the appropriately marked stop line. If there is no stop line or marked crosswalk, the driver must stop before entering the intersection where he/she has a view of the intersecting street.

now people don't know: making a right hand turn at a stop sign don't have to wait once stopped if no traffic is crossing their path (vehicle or pedestrian) to make the right turn.

Slow turns so you don't spill any beer.

I had to laugh, brought memories Del. Taking that international test like 40 years ago....I was thinking "man, driving overseas must be very well behaved and organized..." But when I asked the locals drivers how they passed their driving test to get a license, they looked at me and ask "what test, and what is a license?"

Intersection. I won’t argue with u there. Especially in a place like downtown where there are more pedestrians and crosswalks.
but right turns into driveways?
Right turns into parking lots?

I concede that sometimes, yes you do have to slow down due to pedestrians or obstructions where visibility is limited but not every single right turn.

maybe it’s just me. But just keep in mind what I am saying next time your driving and maybe you will notice it. Again, it doesn’t bother me just think it is weird that people do that.

Nah. Nothing bothers me much anymore. Especially with the new meds the DOD has me in now.

Hey there! UNC put me on this diet that really isn't only KETO, but also fasting with maybe a lil Paleo. This is the gist of it:

The key would be basically as much green leafy vegetables as you can eat. Raw is great for enzymes, etc. Starchy veggies are out.

Then fatty foods are good. Avacados, fatty fish like Salmon, etc. I eat a ton of chicken thighs and any other fatty thing I want to include bacon. The less preservatives the better (i.e. steak vs hotdogs). Heart disease doesn't come from fatty meats, but rather over eating simple sugars that give you fatty organs like liver, heart, etc.

Most of your carbs should come from your veggies vs any processed carbs like pasta/bread/sugar, etc. Beer is limited to one per day max given it would be 15g of carbs or so. 1/2 glass of dry wine is recommended vs beer. 40g of carbs is a limit for a person with a moderately slow lifestyle. Obviously exercise is great for many reasons, but it alone won't "cure" the problem if you keep shoving sugar in your body 24/7.

I have a 6 hour window to eat in - - typically ~11:30 and then 5:30.

The whole basis is that as you get fat, your hormones get all messed up and you become resistant to your own insulin. That is what leads to Type 2 Diabetes. You have to let you body rest from processing sugars - thus the low carb/surgar consumption, but also the fasting to give the rest. This is also why skinny people can get Type 2 Diabetes - - they may be fit, but constant eating/drinking can lead to insulin resist.

Ketosis is the state where you burn fat in your liver, reducing fatty liver and then other organ fats. It also have a bunch of other benefits.

You want to eat plenty of veggies to avoid gall bladder issues with this diet. Gall breaks down fats.

Also - - I have found if I stick to the diet, I can't over-eat - - hard to eat so many veggies and fatty foods as they are filling, but also am not as hungry. I actually have to push food vs feel hungry. That is a side effect of carbs and insulin hormones reacting with satiation hormones that make you hungry or full, as well.

Easy to lose weight on this diet - I feel 10 years younger, etc, but . . . I fell off it HARD while running the B&B. Just got back on : (
