Tossed a box of ubolts in the shuttle. U mentioned u needed a couple. The intent was not to give them all away so its like the library. Return what u dont use.

Great memory.... I had forgot about those once again....

I will consider this like the penny cup at the convienance store. I will take a few, and drop in a few that won't work for me.

Thanks for storing all the extra parts!:grinpimp:

Headed to get the exhaust manifold from the taxi soon. :bounce2:

and??????

Slept in till 5, so did not get it finished this am. Spent 1/2 hour looking for the bolts and nuts -- don't know what I did with them.....

Anyway, got mostly installed this morning.... got about 1 hour more to do and can try it out.

So far looks bulletproof. The manifold was warped some, maybe 1/32 across the whole thing. Did not have a second gasket, so trying without.

Big flat file and surface it might help?

Drum roll please

Ol' blue is running again with no exhaust leaks!!!! Yeah.

And Ol' Blue is running without the bowl overflowing!!! Yeah!!

The problem was not the fuel pump, but was the float needle valve. I always micrometer the length before swapping in new ones, and this was fine. The problem was that the needle end was less tapered. The old one went to a point, the new one was wider. The great news is that it gives more surface area to stop leaks like I had before, the bad news (and what I had not noticed before) is that it needed a little less area for the swing of the float. I backed it off a little and perfect. The fuel came into the bowl about 1/4 below the full line.

I do have a little leak on the sight glass bowl gasket, so I will make a new gasket for that and likely get a little sealant too. Third time is the charm.

Well, I missed picking up the kids on the last day of school in 2011.... hopefully, I will make it next week. Calling in to get insurance today. We will see if I can make it down to the DMV for inspection and tags.

Cheers.

Nope, single manifold gasket did the trick. I am pretty pumped. Just got insurance set up this AM, so she is ready to roll and start testing out..... oops forgot about the spring u bolts that I need to swap out.

Anyway, time to start testing her out. Exciting times.

Congrats! Perhaps you will beat me! You did have a head start!
we need some pictures of this one year late school bus thingy. I'd bet Rob has one of those signs that go on a bus you could borrow! it's about the correct color.

Cut a new sight bowl gasket out of cork and no leaks!

Did the truck do its school pick up duties?

This Wednesday is last day. Pickup is about noon.

What I was able to do, was the first shakedown run on Friday night.

Short list of to do......

Need exhaust tip to drop exhaust. I hobbled together the current exhaust out of old pipes to last until Techtafab can make new exhaust. If you go back to page one of this thread, you will see that I bought ol' blue from him, so it is going to make the return trip to his shop for the finishing touches.

Carb needs adjusted. Running a little lean. I had to pull the choke about 1/2 inch to get it to idle. Have to read up on adjusting carbs unless anyone is good with them and have availibility mon/tues.

Seat belt for kids on driver side was not latching. Have to dig into that. Good news is that I have an extra set of seats, so that should be fixed easily.

Other than that, she rode really fine.

Looks like I will make it...

Did you get to pick them up today?

Wanted to thank everyone over the years for helping me get this rig rolling. Enjoy the pics.

So the shakedown ride showed a couple more problems.

First have a pretty bad vibration at speed, sounds like the front pinion angle is rearing her head. I can't recall if I put shims in or not. I think the decision was to wait to see if I have an issue. Well, got that.

Second have a sound show up while moving. Upon inspection, I think it is on the brakes, the little retaining wire appears to be rubbing on the rotor. Need to post a pic on that and figure out what I did wrong.

The troubling one is that the fuel bowl is overfilling again. I posted up a question on the main board last night, but I am thinking I need a fuel pressure regulator or a return line (these old rigs did not have a return line or bypass line for extra pressure.

She was a blast to run and drive!

Very nicely done Kelly, I'm sure you are about to get buried with compliments. Beautiful rig!

Congrats on Test run kid shuttle. Glad you got it all together and running.
