Hey there trouble.... how is NC treating you???

Blocked out the fill primer, reshot with epoxy, and started wet sanded with 400 grit.

I forget all these steps!!! Man painting takes forever.......

Anyway, bought some seam sealer today, so need to borrow my caulk gun back, and hopefully able to shoot color on Sunday.

You should be in the garage. Villagers need pictures. A little peer pressure, I turned in my resignation at the second job! Game on.

Is the thing above your off road door?

edit: BTW your painting work is awesome!!!

Rotate the picture 90 degrees. Metal Tech Tube door. Not just off road.... It will be used 24/7!

Update: several early mornings.... I got the hood in build primer today!!!

Question: Should I install the windshield after the frame is installed or on the bench before I mount it?

If you can before lube and strong string. Or if yours has the keyway I have a tool saved in my favorites at work to install that. Your options are to hang over the hood or do it in the comfort of your living room. Or, just pay a glass shop twenty bucks to install it!

Ooooh. Glass shop. I like that idea.

Yes, mine originally had the keyway, and I believe that is what I bought new to replace it.

Another question. I am thinking about running the power for the windshield wiper up through the frame so it is not exposed and visible on the side of the windshield. Anyone ever heard of that or have thoughts on doing so?

power was run thru the windshield in the later years. I cannot remember if the "older" windshield frames had the same holes in them. I do recall the wires coming thru the frame and exiting to the motor tho. The wiring should be clamped to the frame by the gasket to the motor on top. Should not be in a position to get "nicked". Could be easily run thru the frame and exit a grommet in a different location tho. Hardest part is "fishing" it thru the frame. My advice is make a quick disconnect at the base of the windshield frame and also run a seperate ground wire from the motor to your disconnect. I've had multiple wiper motors not work due to bad grounding. Original grounding was thru the hinge and jumping the hinge with a ground wire fixed most of them.

Great advice! Thanks!

Along the same thinking, I always had luck tying a piece of kleenex to the string.

Really, that is way better than mig wire.

hood progress

Got the hood shot with build primer, blocked it out, had to do a second build coat, blocked it out to 180, then put on the epoxy. Then I got a head cold, so no progress this week.

primed hood

pics of the primed hood.

Need to wetsand with 400 and 600, then reshoot.

Trying to figure out how I can hold it up to paint it all at once and not leave a line where the wire is. I was thinking about welding up some thicker metal or using a heavy duty rod so it would be just a single spot.

I could cut it in on the bottom side, then flip it over on the color coats, just did not want to waste another day of painting.

Thoughts?
