If not raptor rustoleum makes a nice texture paint that provides grip I use it on bumpers

Good point chris it was good for standing on but showed dirt

I notice that on my bumpers - always has dirt settled into the rear one. Plus, if you ever do bump something, it is mess to fix. Of course, I spent a lot more than DIY versions, so I guess that makes me even more stupid :) The Ameraguard is quite tough, though.

On my NEXT vehicle I think I will be painting bumpers etc. with low gloss rustoleum and just touch up, as needed - of course I am hoping to move from something that I am afraid to drive and get dirty to something I can really play with. :)

anything? Bueller? Updates, I didn't get as much done as I wanted but Oh well..

Since I am using the 75 rollbar in the 68, it ended up not fitting all that great, so I had to tear it all apart piece by piece. My welded reinforcement for the rollbar is not in the right spot, so going to have to make new ones (basically huge washers).

Ended up needing 1.25 thread for the rollbar, so off to westlake I went. DAMN bolts cost a lot. :)

Got the exhaust manifold done and everything back together. Have not started it up yet, but looks nice and clean all together again.

With your advice, I think the rollbar will get a can of rustoleum flat black.

So, next is to bolt down the rollbar ends, tack weld the hoop and the back pieces.

May get out there this weekend a tiny bit.

Cheers, and happy new year to everyone....

progress

I hid out in the garage over the weekend. Thank goodness no one found me, as I made some progress.

I got the roll bar all welded up and ready for paint, except that I forgot to order a new seatbelt for the front. Oops.

I started body work on the hood. Some large person must of sat on it as I had a lot of shrinking to do. I still need to do some beating on it, but it is getting closer, and I got rid of the tin canning.

Oh, here are the pics of the exhaust/intake manifold completion.

I also started working on the rear doors. Seems Mr. Rust came to visit. I cut out the bad section, sandblasted the interior as best as I could, then put a coat of por15 inside there. Threw in a bunch and tried to coat the entire inside. Then I bent a new piece of steel, and coated it. I will weld it in place soon. ( I just sand off the area of por15 that I will weld)

Felt great to get back out there. Hope to get that seat belt in soon and then i can finish welding on the rollbar and get it painted.

Cheers.

Forgot to mention that the ADHD kicked in and I worked on the motorcycle, electrical, son's pinewood derby car, and a couple other long forgotton projects. What was that word Eric? Focus???

I need to post up pictures, but was able to spend several early mornings out in the shop and I cured all the cancer in the rear doors. Project took way too long, but as the welds were cooling, I worked on upgrading my welding bench. Added power outlets, grinder holders and welder holders. Makes it much easier to work on.

I plan to go back and straighten the hood as best as I can, then work on the doors. Although I was going to make some tube doors. I could not find a latch that I liked, so I might have to buy a set.

Next up is to sandblast the rollbar and paint it.

If you need your seam sealer gun holler im in axle world and then drivetrain so I do not want to hold up your forward progress

Thanks Rob. I just finished mudding them and am very happy with the way they turned out, just way too much time on them. Next up is the hood. I need to beat it close then sandblast everything. Oh, I used black beauty, the coal slag last week for the first time. Wow is it aggressive the first time through! I had to hand sand the rollbar to take the scratches out.

Anyway, I hope to set the "paint booth" back up tomorrow and try to shoot some primer on the rear doors, and the hood.

I am thinking about making a set of tube doors for the rig. I just found some door latch hardware sets, so looking to find a tubing bender next. Erik, did you have one?

On the seam sealer, that makes sense to seal up some stuff. I think that I have access to another gun at work. I will let you know if I need it.

Rob and both have benders tell us which die size tho

doors

Planning on going 1.5 inch tubing... here are the designs I have tucked away in my skull that I found over the years.

Think I will make two sets so the next cruiser will be ready to go.

If I do the cad version, I will likely delete the bottom piece. I don't like that look.

What size wall should I get on that 1.5" tubing? Doesn't have to standup to WWIII, just keep us in there.

k

I would say get it thinner to keep it light so its easy to take on and off.

You ordering those cool hinges someone is making or using stock?
