And I thought you had built half doors already? Get that hood and half doors done and get it running already before you do something extra. Focus young Danielson

Took a lot of digging, but I found two suppliers.... updates to come. I will post up a group order if anyone is interested in a set. Waiting for the samples to show up.

So .12 wall pipe?

Who has a bender for 1.5" pipe?

Pipe is different than tube.. None of us have "pipe" benders. Pipe is measured via the ID.. Tube is measured via the OD. Pipe bender is avail at harbor freight. Hydraulic jack looking thing. Tube is drawn around which is what Rob and I have.

Ok, so I need to go find ERW tube, and then I can use your benders?

I don't mind going and getting a pipe bender, but agree it would be overkill.

Where can I find ERW tube?

So, got the hood pretty good. I really wanted to limit the bondo on it, so spent extra time getting it pretty straight.

Got the windshield stripped down ready to blast too.

The rear doors are ready for primer.

Ok, so my favorite vendor MSC has 7,343 different taps that they stock.

So, when I needed a tap for the seatbelts I knew where to go...... well until I got the diminsion.

Yep, it is an 11mm bolt. :bang: All you can get these days is even sizes 10mm, 12mm. Thank goodness I kept the bolts, as I don't know where you could find these.

Anyway, MSC only carries ONE tap. So that is why you all are seeing a picture of this tap ... yep boring.... oh well it cost me enough, so you all have to look at a picture of it... actually here is a double dip on this lovely monster.

door handles

Not really happy with the finish on these. I think they were stainless, so I may just polish them up.

Anyway, found an option for those doors. I have another set coming in the mail.

Started looking at pipe and tube for the doors, and decided to buy a set from MetalTech. Amazing how you can cut a dozen hours off your build with a little $$.

Day in the shop

With the crazy winter weather, I was able to get all the parts sandblasted one evening last week, and found time to prep everything for primer.

One thing that I had to do was to unfreeze a lock for the rear swing doors.... Finally drilled out the entire peg and made a new one from a stainless bolt. I tapped the receiving side and used red locktite to lock it in place. I heard Erik in the back of my mind reminding me to use anti seize on the rest....

Good Job! Tax season is approaching quickly. Get some color on those before you go into hiding..

For some weird reason Colin and I apparently both had the same ideas this weekend.. We both mopped the garages out and cleaned up shop. It was amazing to Mop the garage out with the doors open in January.

Don't forget to put new delrin plastic bushings in those rear hinges or they will rattle/squeak like an old barn.

Where do you get said bushings? :p

One awesome thing is that with my new J O B..... no more crazy tax season!!!:bounce: I should be able to make time to get this thing together!:steer:

Oh, and you can add me to the mopping.... I pulled the air line with my foot, draggin the paint gun (with lid off) on to the floor :censor: spilling about half a cupfull of epoxy. So, I was on my hands and knees wiping the floor clean.....

Mcmaster carr has a very large selection. I"ve also used a flat delrin plastic washer between the two parts of the hinge by slicing in an arc and threading it onto the hinge while it was still together. This is for a different type you can't seperate.. BUt for yours.. see link below.

I would imagine you can slide one into the hinge that will have a flat between the two halves of the hinge.

After scouts last night I threw some bondo on the windshield frame and then got up early and sprayed some blocking primer on this morning.......

I have the clock running to get paint on this stuff (except hood)

So, the plan is....

1: epoxy primer sandblasted parts DONE
2: quick bodywork DONE
3: build primer DONE
4. sanded with 180 grit on long board
5. more build primer (if needed)
6. sanded with 240, 400wet and 600wet
7. epoxy primer
8. color
9. clear
