It all kind of happend quick this week. Started looking on CL a little more often searching for 1 priority No NAV then my preferences with an 05 or newer and grey leather. Found 3 candidates but all with mileage higher than I wanted and two from small Hollywood dealerships and one from a guy who said he was selling for his dad but smelled like a small dealer.
Then the search moved to CarMax and they only had 07's with Nav. Next hit up the local Lexus used cars online and only 460's at the first two then the third I hit an 05', no Nav, just 85,700 miles, Blue Meridian Pearl but tan interior.
This was the first GX I had driven got the vin number and this thing was purchased new from this dealer and was serviced at the dealer basically every 5,000 miles. They even had the dealer install wiper blades and fix a leak in a tire. Once the dealer took it in they did the 90K service including water pump and timing belt. The low mileage and service history made up for the tan interior! So the wife and I decided to bring it home last night for $18,500 out the door with tax & license. About $4,000 more than I was looking to spend but 35k less miles then I was targeting.

Not sure how long the add will stay up but it will due until I can get photos posted this weekend:

Welcome to the group. I will always love the way an 80 looks, but I have to admit that I'm not disappointed choosing the GX.

Absolutely, let me just get some tires at least.

Are you down to go to Baja? My buddy and I go down for the Score Race in San Felipe almost every year. That's where we were when I started up my 80 on the morning of the race and heard the tick tick tick..... We also go half way down the peninsula to check out the whales in San Ignacio.

We of course do Borrego and Ocotillo a bunch.

Where the hell is your neck of the woods? Even on e-bay they bring $14-16K on average. But SoCal has always been that way even with the 80 series 5-8 years ago. Now you can finally get 80's for dirt cheap.
I did find some 470's for 12-14k and what I was expecting to pay but they were 160k-190k miles. So I decided to pay up $3k to get low miles and more importantly documented service. And I have saved myself thousands in PM on this one. It's straight to tires and sliders.

There's an 04 for sale with 70k here in the Chicagoland area for 9k.

Edit; didn't mean to sound like a dick.

No offense taken at all. That's great for you guys and beyond crazy price for that low of miles! But I will take our dry roads and pristine under carriages any day. :)

I'm with you on that! As a matter of fact, I've been toying with the idea of moving out west. I fell in love with Arizona several years ago, and even though I visit every year, I get more and more miserable here every winter.

Arizona is Offroad Mecca, and if you ever got sick of it you head one way and you are in Colorado or the other to Cali... Emissions are way easier compared to ours and all you have to worry about is becoming a horrible driver because 95% of Zonies are horrible drivers! HA!

Being from Iowa, Midwest cars and especially Chicago (driven hard) are not worth the same as a rust free car from rust free parts of the world. I got mine in Tulsa, OK. Rust was the death of my 80 which spent time in Chicago and Hannibal, MO before I got it.

That's

That's kind of a blanket statement, but generally speaking I agree. My truck has been in the Midwest all but one year of its life and you'd be hard pressed to find a cleaner truck anywhere in the country.

I agree, but generally you have trouble finding that in the Midwest. Kind of like a unicorn. Mine is clean after two winters, but I wash it everyday when salt is on the ground.

Ya I'd be interested in cruising down to Baja depending on the dates, that whale trip sounds awesome- keep me posted! Borrego and Ocotillo are always doable whenever just let me know

Nice 80's series btw, I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to move on, but you're going to enjoy the gx!

Cheers
