The place is definitely sketchy. A family of 8 sitting in a parking lot in front of a shed with an odd pond behind it. Everyone's shirts were ripped, many missing teeth, and they knew almost nothing about the truck. That said, if this was an FJ40 or a 55, I would have bought it instantly.

Pics are on my phone so I'll try to get them on here this am. i would call the guy before heading over to make sure it's still there.

Brakes were good. Drove straight and shifted well. Looked to have a leak on the transmission but that could be oil from the motor. No smoke from the tailpipe. Tires had some minor dry rot. no sign of previous accidents. some of the brake lines looked rusty. Power steering seemed to have a small leak but still worked (PS leak might have been oil from the block) Body was very nice for the age with 5 small rust spots (size of a quarter to half dollar) Tow hitch is junk. Frame rails looked great as well as the floors...meaning no rot or surface rust really underneath. There are a few spots with surface rust but a wire brush and some rustoleum would fix it easily.

Interior had rips on the front drivers seat. Steering column cover missing. Had tons of dog hair in it. Hadn't been smoked in. Needs a serious detailing as it looks like it was never cleaned since new. Headliner was good. Carpet and dash acceptable. Rear seats and 3rd row seats good.

AC unit had no belt on it so I assume the worst that the compressor is dead. Horn wires weren't connected so I assume it's stuck on. Had the wrong battery in it. Had about 1/2 inch of caked oil in spots on the block but it idled great and sounded perfect. No valves rattling etc. Like I said, ran smooth.

All of the oil seemed to come from the valve cover gasket. I'm sure there are probably leaks elsewhere but the caked on oil started at the very top of the motor. It would be awesome if all it needed was a valve cover gasket but I have no way of telling. I didn't see or smell any antifreeze. The engine oil and trans fluid smelled and looked good.

It would be an unbelievable start to a trail truck or an easy fix for a daily driver.

Apparently the truck just got to NH less than 10 years ago from out West so low rust amounts.

last of the pics. All the lights worked and looked to have new shocks on it.

Thanks a lot jsaltlick! Now I just need someone to buy my cruiser, Subaru or 4Runner and I'll go buy it

Is this still for sale?

1960's M416 military trailer. PO cut the back out for a tailgate, I spray bombed it black, wired it with cheap trailer lights and added a tongue box and lid. The lid is made of wood and does keep the weather out but does show that I am far from a carpenter.

My brother in law is looking for a late model FJ40 as a daily driver. He drives about 20 miles per week. Looking to spend between $5-7K. Lemme know if you see anything out there
