Just throwing this out there...

Guy down at the end of my street is building a KILLER '85 Supra. It had a nice 7M-GTE in it, that he completely tore apart, all new gaskets, new water pump, had the head decked, etc. Put it back together, it ran great, but he decided to upgrade to a twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE, which is now installed. He wants to sell the entire 7M setup, EVERYTHING is there, all the wiring, computers, intake, intercooler, turbo, etc. He only wants $700 for the whole pile. The engine looks absolutely brand new.

I'm very tempted...

It is an awesome setup, and a common swap in mini-trucks. The challenge is keeping them cool, they can be hard on head gaskets. I believe that engine bolts up to the R150 tranny.

For $700 whaddaya got to lose?

yes, 80s are known for blowing head gaskets, but if I was home i would definitely pick up that engine and let it sit as an alternative to when my 212xxx engine dies.

Uhhh.... $700? :)

Seriously, this is an incredible deal. Most used engines would need a going thru before you install it, but this one has less than 100 miles on the refresh, so it needs nothing.

Someone come buy this thing so I'm not tempted. Put it in your Corolla, I don't care.

C'mon...there are people here on MUD trying to sell destroyed 2F engines that need full rebuilds for $500. $700 is a steal.

and then there are certain old YT members who put a 7M-GTE in their white 85 4Runner... and it sits in their garage unfinished. LOL

It is a steal, it belongs in a 2WD mini truck with a tubbed bed, 4 link rear and slicks. That was my go-fast plan when I was single and had excess income.

Step away from the ATM Ken.

80s have HG issues from a bad design, they are no harder on them than any other engine. And that engine in an 80 would be a mistake.

Agreed on all points. It's not an appropriate engine for any Cruiser.

I was wondering whatever became of that project. So, it's STILL sitting there? Didn't he start on that back in like... 2001??

LOL...

I'll try to get some pics, of both the 7M and the new mill in this Supra. It's a thing of beauty, he really did a nice job. After he gets the engine done and streetable, the car gets new paint, and he's gonna have the original OEM alloys refurb'd. I dunno how he's gonna keep tires on the thing.

the RTT is out of storage and back on the market: https://forum.ih8mud.com/sale-parts/293633-camping-lab-rtt-new.html

I will be out of town this weekend, but back on Monday. I head back overseas Thursday the 8th and would really like it gone before then, but I may be able to arrange a sale through my family after Thursday if I have a commitment. Thanks!

Something like that. AFAIK, it is still sitting in the garage. Last time I saw it, New England salt was slowly taking its toll. I'll hit him up and get an update if any.

So nobody wants a FREE rebuildable 2F? I believe its an 84/85 vintage.

I've got one that I rebuilt which is going in the truck. I have the one in the truck that I am keeping for god knows what reason and I have this extra one sitting in my garage which needs a rebuild.

Its it has no accessories but is complete less the crank pulley which some dirty hippy took. If no one steps up its headded to the scrap yard next weekend. Even if you want parts off it let me know.
