Thanks Stan. These folks are extremely good friends and I will go out of my way to help. The electrical issues are estimated to be over $1300 on a van their isn't worth that much. They are in between a rock and a hard spot.

David,
No matter the brand, electrical issues always seem to follow the same diagnosis procedure (it might be simple and the shop just smells $). Battery connections, grounds, fuse panels. Do you know what the issues are and what the quoted repair is? Maybe we can guide you to the solution. Is this a handicapped van, by chance?
I also agree with James' statement about swap cost/benefit vs new (used) car. You can find a good running Hyundai or Kia for very little money unless your needs are specific. Toyota or Honda will cost a bit more.
Maybe there's something that some of us would be willing to do if their situation is that dire. Please let us know.
Looking for a good running 1FZ to replace mine. Was going to do a rebuild but just don't have the money right now. Doing a swap and want to sell your stock motor? Let me know!
I have a known running motor. I think it had about 260,000 miles on it though. Pulled it before I came out West on the wife's truck because I did not want to hear anything about her truck. Still ran great, just high miles.
Don't stone me please for this request! I have a dear friend who needs help. She has a 1987 Jeep Pioneer that currently isn't running, the recent cold weather froze the engine and she was told it has a cracked block. No, I haven't seen it but I have to trust her and the mechanic. I am looking for an engine that will fit into her Jeep as a replacement. I know this group and they have their eyes on everything. If anyone knows where I can get an engine for her I will be very grateful.
Edit: Their money is extremely tight and I am trying to save them everything I can.
What I might suggest is they forget about fixing the Jeep. Unless you are considering putting the motor in yourself there is an easy $750 just in labor and not including price of the replacement motor.
For $1500 or less they can be in a practical vehicle, and while they would not get much for the Jeep it can at least offset the cost a little. In addition, if money is very tight they can at least qualify for a small loan for the purchase of a used car whereas money for repairs is going to be harder to get.
More back story, both husband and wife are on disability without extra cash. The spent $1300 having the van tranny fixed last year. The electrical issues are computer related, and the quoted repairs will be over $1300. The van issues as I understand it is door lock controller, light controller and something about the gas gauge which requires the gas tank to be pulled since the sending unit is in there. There may be more computer related issues that I am not aware of. Their home heat pump needs a new compressor and her insulin has gone up to $500. His insulin is about $1500/mo. His Durango has a broken drivers seat and she can't drive it unless she takes plenty of pillows to prop her up. They are between a rock and a hard place with no wiggle room and I am doing what I can to help with the wiggle room. BTW I believe their credit rating isn't high enough for a loan and even if it was there isn't extra money for more payments. These people are like family to me and I am doing all I can to help.

I'm looking for a 2003-2004 Tacoma doublecab 4x4, or 2005-2006 Tundra 4x4. A drunk driver smashed into my Tacoma, totaling it. I'm looking for a replacement. We bought it new in 03, and put 267k on it. Was hoping to make it to 500k. It was a great truck..
Anyway, If anyone knows of a good truck for sale, please let me know. Thanks.
Selling my Remington 700 Black Synthetic stock .270 Cal. Rifle. Has a Nikon Buck Master Scope on it. Will include several boxes of ammo I have and a 2 gun hard case. This has been a great rifle and has killed many deer.
Asking $300.00 currently located in Morehead City can easily get to Raleigh area.
