I just blindly took the sample test online, and outside of a few easily memorized HAM Regulation questions, it seemed quite easy. Like, if you know some basics like Ohms Law, basic LCR circuits, and some very basic RF stuff - it's a piece of cake. I may take it for s***s and giggles.

Thanks for the kick to the ego nads ;)

So easy huh? If only they asked about chamaecyparis pisifera filifera aurea mature height and proper spacing lol

Touche Mr. Free. It was almost 20 years ago and has gone visually unused, but I suppose that BSEE gives me a leg up on this particular subject matter.

One "landscapers special" physics lesson coming right up. You got yur water pressure, hose diameter, and flow rate .... BOOM, Ohm's Law.

They are watching - don't let them down . . . . .

Doing my study time for the day and, I don't know why, but this question (from the General Test Pool) always cracks me up.

"What is the frequency deviation for a 12.21 MHz reactance modulated oscillator in a 5 kHz deviation, 146.52 MHz FM phone transmitter?"

My head keeps twisting it into a new techno babble like "If your phase shift equalizer produces a non-harmonic signal spike, what influence will it have on the linear capacitance of the ionization inductance filters?"

I attempted the General when I got my tech and failed miserably :)
i had the opposite experience for General ;)

-- aaaaannnnnd then i went for Extra and had your experience.

Done!

Tech exam 100%
General exam I missed one so a 97%. :bang:

Supposedly will have call sign by Tuesday.

EDIT: Okay, I don't want to be a cry baby about it but the question I missed was due to it being an old question that should not have been there.

Congrats and wow on the General!!

Ha. A guy that doesn't even have a call sign yet is hardly "trainer" qualified. The best I can do is advise on how to master the test. Once the real world applications come into play I'm gonna need an "Elmer" to show me the ropes.

I'm driving my wife crazy but the next local testing session is April 30 and may go ahead for my "extra" <----- more s***s and giggles.

Look forward to future contacts with the ONSC clan.

Well that was fast.

KM4SSY is now QRV. 73's folks.

Nice call sign, Sassy......trust me, take sassy over sissy

That's exactly the skit I was thinking of!

So anyone around Raleigh interested in Ham radio should head to the Fairgrounds this Saturday.
RARSfest - The Raleigh Hamfest

There are no local ham radio stores so this is the best chance to see things in person. This is also a great chance to see how things work and ask any questions.

Testing! Finish up your studying online and come on out and take the test. You can take the test without paying to get into the show.

"Amateur Radio Exams

All testing will be done in the Hall of Fame Room in the Jim Graham Building. Testing begins at 9:00 AM with walk-ins accepted until 10:00 AM. No exams will be started after 10:00.

Joe (WA4GIR), and Liz (KO4CK) are in charge of exams. Exam fee $14.00. Must have original and copy of current license, photo-id, and any CSCE to be used for license upgrade.

Testing room may only be entered from the outside door. RARSfest tickets are not required for the VE testing. After testing, admission to RARSfest will require an admission ticket."

"RARSFest is almost here! Hope your calendars are marked for Saturday,
April 2, 8am -3:30pm at the Jim Graham Building on the NC State Fairgrounds!

10:45am - Room #1 (Sales Arena) - *Forum for NEW HAMS!* Anyone licensed
a year or less will enjoy attending this forum to learn about radio
choices, getting on the air, nets, clubs, public service, SKYWARN,
Auxcomm, CERT, Field Day, National Traffic System (message handling),
ham radio events for newbies, wallpaper that a newbie can earn, and
more! You'll also have the opportunity to meet some of the leaders of
various organizations. This is a "Don't Miss" for new hams!"

Starter kit arrived.
